How do your parents react when they find out you listen to korean music or watch korean dramas even though you're not korean?

My parents don't care. Sometimes, they watch korean dramas on tv too.

My parents dnt mind .. they like watchin korean dramas themselves! .. but they perfer historial versions that are melodramas!

but do make fun out of me listenin to korean music .. like ..u understand? .. .. giggly type.. nothin biggy

I must admit they were a little weirded out at first, it's just different to them.
But they don't mind ^^

it was my auntie who introduced me to korean media.
my whole family is practically into korean dramas.lucky me, i guess

My parents and my family don't care. I even got my dad to listen to Jinusean..and he likes them lol. But sometimes some of my other family members are all like, why do you listen to the ching chong music? and i really don't like it when they do that. But usually they don't bother me about it.

I don't think any parent really cares if their kids listen to a different language song or drama as long as the song isn't filled with foul language. My parents don't really care.

I'm going to replace "Korean" with "Japanese" because its the same situation for me. I'm not Japanese but I listen to the music, watch the anime etc.

I reckon my mum thought it was a little bizarre at first, but I've always been quite internationally conscious so I guess she didnt find it too weird. I think she finds interesting that I listen to foreign music/watch foreign programmes. I think what she does find a little weird is that my favourite bands of choice play mostly very heavy rock, and are - to her - more than a little bit creepy XD (<3 Dir en grey and The GazettE) Then there's the whole VK androgyny thing.

I'm not close to my dad, so I dont think he really knows about my J-obsessions. But he probably wouldnt think much of it either way.

they don't care O_O..haha..cause they know I also embrace my own chinese culture fully haha XD..they're pretty open minded XD..LOL..

I started woth chinese at first.. My parents at first.. quite okay with it..
When i hear chinese radio.. My parents will asked "Do you actually understand??"...
then i will answer "no.. not exactly".. Hahaha~

But now.. I more to korean.. they use to it already... hehehe~

my parents have no reaction they think it's good to be into other cultures plus my sister listens to spanish artists soo.

they dont care, they care that i listen to rap, because the only words they understand are the curse words

My parents don't care. My mom knows that I like Korean food (she likes it too) and listening to Korean music. I listen to Chinese music and English songs too.

My mom only thought it was weird when I was super obsessed with H.O.T. back in high school. During those days she did ask why do I like them -- that they looked like girls (haha) and why do I listen to it if I can't understand what they're saying. Now I'm not obsessed with any band in particular -- no collection pictures or reading lyrics anymore. I just have it on my playlist.

they kinda think it's amusing and they smile when they hear me listening to it..sometimes they ask if i understand it and i say, yeah i get some words it's really no biggie to them i guess...

but my brother-in-law find me weird...
when i'm listening to korean song and he comes into my room,i would turn off the music immediately..
it's so awkward...

I watch Korean Dramas, and I listen to Japanese rock music... my mom just thinks I'm weird and she makes fun of me alot of the time. It kinda bugs me, and she knows it, but oh well.

I'm not real close with my dad. He knows of one band that I listen to.. known as "that Japanese band" (my mom knows the name of the band). He doesn't say much, and even if he did, I wouldn't care.

My mom: (fob voice) "What? Yoo like Korean? Whai yoo like Kohreahn for?"

But other than that, they don't really care. ^^

I always listen to Korean music thru earphones or turn down the volume of the speakers...
Like I've something to hide. But my parents aren't making fun of me, just that when they flip thru Korean TV channels they'll make comments like they speak funny and try to imitate them. So I don't really want them to know that I like Korean music...

even though they think i spend too much time watching dramas, they can't really do much, since they do so too (but no as much XD)

My family has actually come to tolerate it and understand. My sister will occasionally make comments, same with my mom. they'll say something like "NO! your not putting YOUR music on! We're not listening to Korean music" -____- makes me mad usually.

My family ask me if I understand it I just go "YUP!" and leave it like that. rofl


My older sister has really been accepting of me listening to Asian stuff, even if she is quiet ignoring about it. >___<

They think it's a little weird, but they don't mind at all. They're usually not too interested themselves, but sometimes they're a little curious. I think they respect it, especially since my mother loves Bollywood films and her favorite singer used to be Claudio Baglioni when she was younger. She was the one who gave me a tape of the The Lion King soundtrack when I was little in Spanish instead of English, too, which I loved to death.

im half korean but like my mom she acts as iff i'm not... the funny thing is when she sees my watch or listens to korean stuff she says...

"now i know who your going to marrie when you get older"

my mom used to be on my back about that a lot

but now that I've also been listening to classical music and Chinese music, she's like "she'll convert FULLY to Chinese MUAHAHAHA" ( errrr...)

so yeah. She doesn't care as much as long as I still remember I'm Chinese^^;

my dad's like "oh, koreans again?" lol he doesn't really care i guess. but sometimes he asks me why don't i listen to chinese music more, or watch chinese movies.

my mom: what are you watching?
me: *states drama name*. It's a korean drama.
mom: WHAT? WHY ARE YOU WATCHING THAT STUFF? It doesn't help you learn at all and is a waste of time! You should be STUDYING! All those dramas only have boys and girls getting together and it's so unproductive, turn that off right now!

n then she starts singing some old song thats not even korean
n says "ur prolly gonna end up marrying a korean guy in the future"

my mom and relatives love watching korean dramas.. and when i mean love, i mean repeating it for 10 times(like stairway to heaven) to the point that even my younger brother who doesnt really watch it knew all the characters' names

besides i still love listening to opm and watching local dramas

Practically all the women in my family are into the korean stuff. My dad just said "Not you too..."

They think I'm crazy. Probably only cause I stay up really late watching Super Junior videos on youtube

But my mom watches Korean dramas too. However, I sing suju/dbsk songs all around the house and everyone except my dad has it stuck in their head at times haha.

my mom was the first one in my family who got into those hallyu stuff.. she likes korean dramas so much.. lol.. she was the one saying korean men are hot when i said no they're not and they have weird hairstyles.. she can stay up all night watching those korean dramas..

the only care when it gets in the way of my schoolwork - which it sorta did during my last year of high school. Even tough i did get good marks, it wasn't my best because of kdrama distractions.

otherwise, my mum would say: "Are you going to marry a korean boy?"

and when i buy kpop cd's ... my mom would be like.. uh okay ... then when she's angry .. she'll say.. you keep buying those useless stuff .. blah blah blah

My parents dont mind, its when i listen to my own lang. they stop and ask something or if they hear explicit words.

my brother on the other hand.. when his around it will be like "So can you put on some real music?".

my parents makes me do what i want to do... i urge my dad to listen to kor songs...he's so-so about it but my mom dislikes it. she asked me how can i appreciate the song when i couldnt even understand the lyrics and message of the song..the truth is i dunno why..i just do.
