How is Cal Poly Pomona? I might take business management there or Hotel, but i want to know the good/bad parts about the school or the major. Thanks

i don't really have any complaints about the business courses so far. the school itself is average i guess...not great but not bad either. they're building a lot of new stuff so it should be nice once it's done. i hate parking the most. i have to walk at least 10 minutes from anywhere i park to get to class.

i'm a second year at cal poly and my major's hotel management too.
the major is awesome. you meet a lot of nice and friendly people. the Collins school is actually very well known and has a good reputation.
the counselors are sooo nice. the professors are very nice as well. of course, there are some professors who don't have the best teaching techniques, but i guess people can still handle it.
the university itself is allright. not the best but not the worse either. they're almost done with a new parking lot building so hopefully parking will get better. they're also building a new library but i think it'll take a little while.
hope this helps! and if you end up getting into the hotel management, have fun and good luck! you'll probably like it

the management is actually one of the top in its class in the United states (i think around top 3)
Cal Poly is your average state school. Not to bad of a location and not toooo expensive classes. If you like the major, I would highly recommend it.
As for the parking or w/e - yea that structure is gonna be nice! But i dont really care since I live on campus..

Parking is not that bad at Cow Poly, depends what time you have classes. Hopefully when the parking struture opens up, it'll relieve some of the overflow. I got use to parking when I was at Mt. Sac anyways.

i lived in Montecito. I think its the best one from all of the other dorms. Not to far from the common (Dining area) and the shuttle area, and its near the parking area. Montecito is in the middle of all the dorms. So I would prefer Montecito. Hope that helped.

Truefully, all the halls are the same. Try not to get Palmitas and Cedritos because those dorm sucks cuz of the architecture. There is an unnecessary space that you can't fit anything. (Traingular space) Its hard to explain. If you look at the floorplan you know what I'm taking about. In the dorm, you want most space as possible because its pretty small to share with two or three peopele. However, these two dorms are the closest to classrooms buildings.
The BEST dorm I recommend is Encinitas and Montecito. This is through my experience living in the dorms for years.
I know that for Montecito; first floor is all guys and second and third is co-ed. As for Encinitas; first floor is all girls and second and third is co-ed. I don't know if they changed over the past years. But when i was in the dorm thats how it was. I know that Montecito is still the same, but not sure about encinitas.

i went to my friend's dorm a couple of times in alamitos...man, three guys living in that dorm room really stinks it up. and its especially bad when you get use to it...ugh, never again.
i'm just glad that CCP offers a game room unlike other schools. i would just spend my days in the tv room waiting for my classes....good times. took some pretty good naps in there too.

my roomate's an IBM major.. i guess there are opportunities since the school can help u out in finding internship and all that~ but in my opinion, if you wanna be a business major, a great alternative is the HRT since it is all about business but more concentrated in hotel/ restaurant/ traveling.

I suggest that you dorm for one quarter or for the whole year during ur freshman year. It gives u a chance to make a lot of friend. because if u commute your just gonna go to class then go home = no fun. Then your not gonna have ur full experience of college hood. Thats how I feel.

i really don't mind the commute. it's about 20 mins to get to CPP and it gives me some quiet time. but most def, try to get a living situation going on. it's easier to make friends when you're not leaving right after classes to beat traffic home.
after this VT thing, i doubt some parents are gonna want their kids to dorm for a while though. just that whole scare of the people dying in the dorms first.

the village is the group of apartment looking buildings across the street from CPP. it's probably the best place you'd wanna live on campus. if you're going to live at school and you have the cash, live at the village.

i'm a commuter and i'm doing just fine knowing people. in fact, i see people i know all the time! it's easy, the first two-three weeks you might not have friends, but by the end of the first quarter, you should have more than enough friends. I didn't join a sorority either.

whats the village? can incoming freshmen do it?
Village is an apartment on campus. There are different phases 1,2, and 3. All the apt. have a living room, Kitchen, 2 bathroom, depending on where u live 4 rooms or two rooms. Phases one is the newer building single four bedroom, phase one cost the most; then Phase 2 (which i'm living at rite now) is single four bedroom also; Phase 3 is doubles with two rooms and a mini patio and its the cheapest. For Phase 1 and 2 you get your own room the reason why one is cheaper then the other is because one phase 1 is a newer building; phase 3 u share a roommate in one room but bigger room. And for the Village you don't get a meal plan like the dorms so you gotta cook your own food. Village is cheaper then suite and the dorm since we don't get meal plans. I currently pay $550 every month for Phase 2. And I know that Phase 1 is 100 more expensive then Phase 2 so it will be $650 a month. I'm not sure about Phase 3 though probably $75 dollars cheaper then Phase 2 .
Phase 1: $650 month rent
Phase 2: $550
Phase 3: $475 (not sure about Phase 3)
Suite--I'm not really sure how it works. But i know you get bronco bucks to buy food. The building are pretty new about 4 years now since it was built. I've been in there couple of time to visit friends, and they have 4 single rooms, living room, kitchen (without stoves) yea i know weird, a mini patio outside (its really small). Suite is the most expensive since you get meal plan and a single room.
No, freshman cannot apply at the village. You have to be 21 year old, or have 32 units to apply. Pretty much everyone could get 32 unit by end of the year, so most likely u could apply from 2nd year unless ur 21 years old already. However, freshman can apply to the suites.
