You can sample all their albums at their listing here at Bugs. I donno if youll like their first album, its harder then their last 2.
As for the Linkin Park thing, Yohan's father actually performed an eye surgery on the bald guy in LP. (Im kidding ((its sad that I have to start saying that)))

I really like Pia, I dont think Yohan's singing is so bad lol ^
3rd phase was my favorite album, but it was also the first album of theirs I bought so that may have something to do with it. I have a friend who uses their 1st album as an example of music she doesnt like "I think Guyz does the music I dont like." "What music?" "Like Pia's first album"

The latest two albums are pretty good. The first album... well... it's scary. It's like death metal. I wouldn't buy it if I were you. But if you are a hardcore fan of Pia, I guess you might as well get it. The first album sounds absolutely nothing like the last two albums.

Death metal... LOL
Anyway, I love, love, love all 3 of Pia's albums and I recommend all 3. However, like others have said, their first album is a lot harder than their last 2. I'd say their 2nd album is still my favorite though.

Well when Pia produced their first album, I think it was without the help of Seo Taiji. Seo Taiji helped them out and took them under his wing for the next two albums. That's probably why they sound so different, well in my opinion.
Gaah... I was just listening to the first album... and there was way too much senseless screaming for me to handle. And almost all of their songs begin with some diabolic guitar entrance. Insanity.

Oh yeah, My Bed is a really good song along with gloomy sunday IMO. Triangle is also pretty good with it's beginning rap and stuff.
Pia's song Still going down... it's also pretty good, but whenever I listen to it, it always reminds me of the band Trust Company. Probably because of the title and the melody.

i believe they opened for linkin park in singapore..like last year was it?
they opened for them in seoul, as well.
that was waay back.
anyway,
their 1st album sounds sort of..disorganized to me.
i like their second.
the third has more of a mainstream sound.

I don't mind senseless screaming on Pia's first album. Yohan makes it sound good, to me. Especially track 3. That's hot.
Like most other people my favorite Pia album is their 2nd, though.

oh that one 'cassandra' is a good song. I like it when Yohan screams "whatever seems real we have no choice" (That IS Yohan that is screaming it, right? At some point it might be the whole entire band).
The only thing that makes me cringe is when he throws up "WHATEVER" right before he screams "we have no choice" at like 38 seconds into the song. omg that little bit annoys the hell outta me. wateva. omg...
IT'S RANDOM I KNOW

It's not death metal. For some reason people toss around "death metal" when talking about any heavy band. Death metal is a specific genre of music which the first album by Pia is not. It is heavier than their third album, but is no where near being death metal.
uiyoltan
Nov 27 2005, 11:01 AM
ok Put it short it's a lot heavier. in my opinion it's nothing like the last two albums, and I really like the last two albums.

Their 1st. album was released without Taiji, but it's produced by 'Ahn Heung Chan', leader / vocalist of Crash.
Pia's music career could be divided into 2. Before-Taiji, and After-Taiji. After-Taiji, their music style were changed a lot & too much, and Nell experienced same thing.

Pia's my favorite korean band ! Their music rules. I like the 3 albums. But it seems they go softer with each album, I think "Becomes Clear" sound pop/rock. If pia.arrongantempire.xxx is hard, it's not death-metal, but we can call it metal. I discovered the band with "The 3rd Phase" which is my favorite album too. The style is hard-rock. I just hope their next album won't be pop music. I don't like the fact they did lipsync on MTV one time. It was so obvious, it's sad because they are good live performers.
For good rock music, I suggest Schizo and N.EX.T .

When LP had their Asia tour, Pia opened for them in various countries.
My Bed and Gloomy Sunday are my favourites. Triangle, and Cassandra come in close second.
Yohan has such an amazing voice. It's melodic and screamy at the same time.
I'm missing them cause they haven't come out with anything new in awhile.

Yohan co-arranged and sang on "The new beginning" from Every Single Days' new album. Sounds more like PIA than Every Single Day so any PIA fans should definitly check it out ^^

It sounds interesting.
Where could I find this?
I've never heard of this band so I'd like to download a couple songs before I buy it and find out I hate it.
And I didn't know Pia had split from Taiji.
Last time I checked, they were still listed under his company while Nell had been taken off.
Then again, the last thing I've heard of them releasing is their song on the "Reds, Go Together" album and their 3rd album before that.
Am I that far behind?

I think they're still with Taiji. At least in the ESD booklet it says "피아 from 서태지컴퍼니" (PIA from Seo Taiji Company), and this was released less than a month ago.
To sample ESD, check out the vid for Wonder (from the new album) which orienkorean has uploaded on YouTube:

not changed; evolved.
pia's new 4th album 'Waterfalls' is out now.
guys should buy. the cd graphics is AWESOME.
i love love love it. sounds a bit more mainstreamy then their prior albums... but i still love love love it.
i love it that they're trying new things, and growing as musicians.
i hate it when musicians end up doing the same type of thing over and over again. where's the innovation in that?
not naming any names.
'Black Fish Swim' is my summer rotation chill~
you guys should go buy now!
