how much is this thing going to weigh? seems like it's crammed with a bunch of techie gadgets and what not... but still a mean machine anyhow. man... when it comes, i don't want to imagine how much mark up dealers will charge, assuming there will be a very strong demand for it... (just like the ford gt500...)

that's their design for this generation....
Honda has the one look with the tsx, tl, si.
Mitsu has the new design for the lancer, evo.
Subaru has the hideous 3 nose design....
....it's just their current look. Changes every 5 or so years...
but as for the topic of this thread....omfg, that car is sex.

i really hope they dont use the horrible vq engine and stick with the rb. does anyone know how theyre making this car in japan? i heard japan has this law where none of their cars can have more than 300hp?? btw acura, lexus, and infiniti doesnt count as japanese since theyre more like american divisions.

Gentlemen's agreement, not law. And the VQ is not a horrible engine. Yes the RB-series is legendary but that doesn't mean the VQ suck. And I'm pretty sure the older generations of the Skyline were underrated from the factory anyways. lol. 280 bhp my butt.

you know nissan has been working on this car for over 8 years. the chassis is based off the v35c or the v37c.

what's so great about the RB? it's an old cast iron and long piece of mini cooper that makes gobs of power without reinforcing chassis dynamics. in 2001, nissan tested their NISMO r34 JGTC rwd car with a 3.3L vq33dett... guess what? car ran quicker numbers with a more compact design and aluminum block. i think they won one or two wins with that engine.

You know, majority of these posts I read say it's sexy and blah blah. From looking at the pictures, now I can voice my opinion. Not one single picture I looked at has the car been totally unveiled far as the front fascia. The body style is similar to that of the G35/37 and 350Z, which tells me Nissan has no creativity what so ever to distinguish the GT-R from other models. How can they match the bodystyle that of a GT-R to a 350Z? Hell, the R32/33/34 looked entirely different than that of the 300ZX. It's nice to see a fresh motor, but it's in the area of questionable for me. Looked at Honda and what they did: NSX, S2000, ITR, CTR all these models have different bodystyles with different motors. Is Nissan trying to make the engine more interchangeable like that of the B/K-series and EJ-series motors that Honda and Subaru did (respectively)? As usual, the GT-R is a heavy car. GT-R is over-rated in my opinion, that's all.
btw - Porsche has nothing to worry about, granted the GT-R is fast, but is it faster than Porsche flagship car the Carrera GT?

Fifth Gear: Nissan GT-R

clickieI'm still a bit disappointed about the way the front looks because it reminds me of the previous generation Eclipse, but everything else including the specs is what a Japanese musclecar should be. I love this car.

After chatting with another guy at a car meet, he got himself on the reserved list to waited on the arrival of the GT-R. According to the information I received from him is that the GT-R might have some problems getting into the U.S. due to emissions.
