Nice, so will you be catching the UFC live in Montreal next year? That should be awesome - especially if it's GSP vs. Serra (provided he gets past Hughes)
I'm REALLY hyped for Silva v Liddell. The stare down alone will be worth the viewing price!

Nice. Dana White "promised" to bring UFC to Montreal in 08. I don't know how much that's worth, but hey, I'm finally going to see Liddell v Silva too, so I guess I can kinda, sorta, maybe...nah, I still don't trust him. But we can all hope for the best!

Silva v Liddell was great. Chuck was faster than I'd seen him in a long time - Wanderlei's wild style was no match, even though he gave it his all. Too bad, cuz I really like Wandy.
I thought a lot of fights this past week were EXCELLENT.
Bustamante v Takamoto was a HUGE surprise and was a great fight to watch.
Ishida v Melendez - incredible action
Misaki v Akiyama - although I felt bad for Akiyama after his loss, it was an amazing KO to see. Poor Akiyama, he never should have cheated, ESPECIALLY against Sakuraba - now everyone hates him
GSP v Hughes - everything I thought it would be, with GSP looking amazing and Matt Hughes looking like...well...Mark Hughes (unless you believe all his hype, lol)
and of course, Liddell v Silva.

All i see Lesnar doing is just ground pounding non stop, when Mir put Lesnar in guard all he did was try to punch him out of guard. Watch every position Lesnar is just punching non stop, he got to wild with the punches and hit Mir in the back of the head.

FROM BRRRRRRRRRRRRRAZIL! ANTOOOOOOOONIOOOOOOOO RODRRRRRRRRIGOOOOOO NOGUIEEEEERRRRRRRRRA!!!
Awesome, awesome night. IMO Noguiera is tied with Fedor for #1 heavyweight in the world right now. Granted, I don't think he'll ever BEAT Fedor, but still, his fights are just legendary. Let him have "Handy" Couture!
Brock has some heavy hands. He roughed up Frank Mir as much as Hong Man Choi roughed up Fedor - both of those guys did serious damage in just a few minutes. Too bad his sub defense is still weak. He'll definitely be someone to watch.
Oh yeah, did I just read that Brock should've caught MIR in an ankle lock? LOL. Most high level jiu-jitsu guys don't tap to ankle locks, even from other jiu-jitsu guys, much less one from someone as inexperienced as Lesnar. But maybe in another year or two, with Brock's power, he'll be able to throw on some sick subs, even with imperfect technique.
haha yeah big nog prolly has THE TOUGHEST CHIN in all of mma. the guy can seriously take a beating and pull off a win. amazing.
not trying to be a fedor nuthugger but i don't think hong man choi did any damage to fedor during their fight. lesnar did some serious damage. if i recall correctly, hmc had 1 clean shot a fedor but that was about it. the marks on fedor's face came from the canvas when he was using it as leverage for the armbar.

Feb 6 2008, 05:12 PM
man, brock lesnar is one scary dude. just..powerpunching all the way. got to hand it to mir for taking on him.
can't wait for the silva vs henderson!
Yah, its gonna rock! I think it is a very good match up. Silva will be tested for the first time since his Pride days. There is a serious lack of competition in the middleweight division in the UFC imo. Light-heavy is prolly the most stacked... shogun, wanderlei, rampage, chuck

Feb 9 2008, 05:42 PM
No way, those marks came from the canvas? Guess I should rewatch the fight. The first time I saw it I remember seeing Fedor try to body-lock throw the goliath, winding up on the bottom, having bombs dropped on him and thinking to myself "He's in deep doodoo if he doesn't do something quick"
I think Anderson Silva can rough up Hendo if he keeps it standing - I'd say he's quite a bit quicker than Misaki, and Misaki made Hendo look AWFUL at 183 (although no real damage).

Mar 2 2008, 11:24 PM
lol, wow, Anderson Silva DEMOLISHED Dan Henderson. Poor guy, Silva's just too incredible a fighter. I wonder who Dangerous Dan should fight next?
BOY sets FIRE
Mar 3 2008, 12:18 AM
Anderson said he wants to fight Roy Jones Jr. in a boxing match if he gets past Hendo. Doubt the UFC will let that happen though. He's probably fighting Okami next.
As for Dan, it's gotta suck losing both his belts like that. I guess they can put him up against Tanner next.
nah not Tanner. Henderson will prolly just stay at 205.
I wanna see Anderson Silva fight the following:
Yushin Okami
Dennis Kang
Paulo Filho (never gonna happen)
BJ Penn (lol hed prolly do it too)
Frank Shamrock
I think Silva would prolly beat them all but I wanna see it. Especially Silva vs Filho. He should then move up to lhw cuz I heard he walks around at 200+. And plus he gave Henderson more of a beating than Rampage did.
BOY sets FIRE
Mar 3 2008, 09:38 PM
Those would be good fights, but I've seen enough of Anderson vs grapplers. I wanna see him against an elite striker next, and see how he does standing.
Only problem is most of the elite strikers probably won't make it up the ranks to face Anderson...
"elite strikers" = K1? manhoef, bonjasky, aerts, etc?
yeah that would be good too but silva would prolly just submit them? i dunno... maybe a match in K1. that would be better... just to see how elite anderson silva's striking is.
Johnny Y
Mar 4 2008, 05:56 PM
Yeah, I'd much rather see Silva in a K1 match than in a boxing match. His odds would be much, much better. In MMA, I'd also like to see him fight Denis Kang, or maybe even Akiyama. Since neither will ever happen, who knows. Maybe Houston Alexander at LHW?

Because Kang has actually fought people of merit (ie. Suloev, Ninja, Gono). Cung Le, not so much. Kang is actually one of the most well-rounded fighters in all of MMA. He may have some chin issues, but he's a solid fighter with an excellent skill-set.
I wouldn't mind seeing Silva v Cung Le, but it's hard to tell if it'll be interesting until he faces a legitimate threat - Frank Shamrock is an excellent start.
