Airline tells woman her outfit won't fly Fri Sep 7, 10:35 PM ET
video at: http://www.dhadm.com/content/southwest-air...xy-kyla-ebbert/SAN DIEGO - A 23-year-old woman who boarded a Southwest Airlines plane in a short skirt for a flight to Arizona says she was led off the plane for wearing an outfit that was considered too skimpy.
Kyla Ebbert said a Southwest employee asked her to leave her seat while the plane was preparing to leave San Diego's Lindbergh Field on July 3.
Ebbert, a student who was headed to Tucson for a doctor's appointment, said Friday on NBC's "Today" show that the employee told her she would have to catch a later flight.
"You're dressed inappropriately. This is a family airline. You're too provocative to fly on this plane," she quoted the employee as saying.
"I said, 'What part is it? The shirt? The skirt? Which part?' And he said the whole thing."
Ebbert was eventually allowed back on the plane after offering to adjust her sweater but said she was humiliated and embarrassed.
"I felt like everybody was staring at me. They had all heard him lecturing me," she told "Today" show host Matt Lauer. She appeared on the show in the same short white skirt, white shirt and green sweater that she said she wore on the flight.
Chris Mainz, a spokesman for the Dallas-based airline, said a customer service supervisor asked Ebbert to leave the plane and addressed her in the walkway leading back to the terminal, "away from the other customers."
The employee felt the outfit "revealed too much" but was placated after Ebbert made adjustments that included covering her stomach, Mainz said.

The airline owes that lady an apology....

That is ridiculous. How do clothes and flying have anything to do with each other? As long as it doesnt distract the pilot, who cares? If other people are bothered by it, tell them not to look.

Give me a freakn break, she's in her early 20s and that is appropriate for her age. Plus she's got a hot bod, why the heck not? If someone dare gave me a lecture like that in public I would've cuss the crap outta him/her and show them whose boss.
If it was too much for a plane outfit, then he should've gently took her aside and tell her. How rude of him to do that to her in front of the public, she ain't a highschooler.

i agree with the airline.
i'm the same age as her (23), and i wouldn't wear anything like that on an airplane, let alone out in public.
she looks like a cheap trick, and if her legs weren't crossed we'd all be getting a full view of her panties.
Modoki
Sep 9 2007, 10:31 AM
^ how does she look cheap? honey, if you're wearing a skirt , would YOU sit with your legs WIDE open? besides you wouldn't see her panties unless you're staring hardcore at her crotch. it's common sense to sit like that

also if you watch the clip, she had her legs crossed, a magazine on her lap, and her purse in front of her, the only way you could see her panties was if you pulled her legs apart yourself

....
anyway, too bad she didn't sue the employee for being so stupid and pathetic.

normally, I'm all for being conservative, but these people are outta control. don't they have more important things to do than to bother some woman about her mini skirt? I mean, at least she's grown. it's not like she's some 14 year-old skank. the airline people are taking this too far.

I don't see what's wrong with the way she's dressed.
Tons of girls dress like that to school, the mall, or wherever..
Restaurants and movie theaters are family places too but i don't see girls getting kicked out for those kind of outfits.
How ridiculous.

uhh...the skirt is too short.i'm tired of being around chicks that hike up their skirts high enough for me to see their panties.and most likely, anyone could see her panties.yes, skirts that short are skanky.

uhh, it looks cheap because that skirt is riding up her cootch.she's got her legs crossed and a purse on her lap because she knows that anyone sitting across from her could get a full view of her cootch.i wear skirts for work at times, and i don't need to put bags and crap all up on my legs cuz the skirt is an appropriate length.

Sep 10 2007, 07:20 AM
Why couldn't they have just made her put a blanket over her legs or something? How incredibly ridiculous. Such a waste of time and resources too, having to delay the flight because some girl is wearing "skimpy" clothes? I agree that she looks kinda slutty but that's no reason to boot her off the plane.
kkkkk
Sep 10 2007, 07:33 AM
i disagree with what little mixed girl has said. though i wouldnt say how she dresses is the norm, but i certainly wouldnt say that it is over the board. even so they should have done things more tactfully, she is the customer after all!
customer service in america these days leaves much to be desired. imagine being in her shoes. it must be terrible to be told off over such a trivial matter.

omg the poor girl. must've been really embarassing to be told off in front of everyone. they really need to apologize cause her outfit isn't too revealing. the skirt is a bit short but almost everyone wears skirts just as short

The skirt does look pretty short to me but I don't know if that's even a reason to kick people off the plane.
