UPDATE ON BOTTOM OF POST FOR WEEK 1!! (11/13/07)

well i was reading some stuff online and i came across this diet. It doesn't have a specific name but it seems kinda reasonable... I don't actually believe that it will make you lose 20 lbs in a month but 10-12 lbs is possible.

here's my profile

height: 5'0
weight: 140 (so sad... i gained 30 lbs last year due to stress... dry.gif mad.gif )
age: 22
goal weight: 130

here's the diet.

6 Things You Must Do To Lose 20 pounds 3 - 4 Weeks
*Listed in order of importance

1.) You need to Eat 4 times a day 3-4 hours apart
2.) Before each meal you need to....


* Eat at least 2 whole raw fruits and/or vegetables - For example you can eat... 2 carrots,
a head of broccoli & a banana, an apple & orange, or either 4 sticks of celery and...

(they recommend drinking one scoop of whey protein or soy protein with 8 ounces of water
after eating your fruit and veggies, but i want to omit this because i'm afraid it'll make me
gain weight since i'm not weight/strength training. it's supposed to suppress your appetite, you
can try it if you want. smile.gif )

Why doing this helps you lose weight fast...

o Your body has to burn a lot of calories (burn lots of FAT) to digest all the raw fruits & vegetables you eat and
since you're eating them 4 times a day... You're going to lose weight fast.
o Eating raw fruits & veggies (not cooked or steamed) will help you lose weight fast.
o Eating raw fruits & veggies, drinking whey or soy protein & ice cold water means...
You'll never get hungry, never have any cravings or a big appetite so... You'll eat less and lose more weight faster.
o Raw fruits & veggies remove toxins from your blood and once these toxins are gone...
The enzymes in the raw fruits & veggies liquefy and flush fat out of your body.



3.) Right after you eat your fruits & veggies and drink your protein... you're going to eat a healthy meal underneath 300 calories. nothing fried!!!
ex: roasted chicken breast, fish fillet etc... and more veggies or fruits.

4.)You need to drink 70 ounces of ice cold water everyday.
* Ice cold water raises your metabolism. The colder the water is - The more weight you'll lose because...
* Your body has to keep burning calories (or keep burning fat) to heat the cold water back up to body temperature.

5. You need to take some Green Tea everyday once in the morning & once in the evening

6. Do 20-30 minutes of power walking right after you take your morning Green Tea
(power walking is when you walk as fast as you can without running)

Why power walking helps you lose weight fast...

o When you power walk first thing in the morning your body has no choice but to burn fat for energy because...
o As you sleep... The energy from the food you ate during the day gets used while you're sleeping for 6-10 hours.

Day 1 (11/5/07)
Ate 4 meals. each meal consisted of broccoli head, 2 carrots and one fuji apple. Followed raw foods with 1/4 broiled chicken breast and steamed veggies.
Lost 1 lb already. water weight perhaps? we'll find out tomorrow morning.

stats:
weight: 139


Day 2 (11/6/07)
i weighed myself this morning and i was 137 lbs. Not much body change but i feel that my stomach is smaller cuz my jeans are fitting better. smile.gif
i played DDR and Pump it Up this morning for 30 minutes instead of power walking. i am going to go have my green tea now.

stats:
weight: 137
total weight lost: 3 lbs.


Day 3 (11/7/07)
I'm 136 lbs. Body still feels the same. I didn't have time for DDR this morning because I have 9:00 class. I just ate my raw broccoli and carrot stick with one banana. I washed it down with one cup of water. Since i couldn't work out, i power-walked to my classes and took A LOT of stairs.

meal 2.
got home from school. i made some soup with 1/4 a chicken breast and tofu. before my meal i ate the standard half a head of broccoli and 2 carrots. For fruit i ate one fuji apple. followed my meal with ice cold green tea.

meal 3.
skipped. sad.gif i'll have to work on my meals too... i wasn't hungry and i didn't feel like eating.. which is super bad cuz my metabolism has prolly slowed down cuz of this. darn..)

meal 4.
still not hungry. so i just ate some frozen Longan (this is sooo good! you guys should go google it if you don't know what this fruit is!)and ate 2 bananas with one fuji apple. i followed my fruit with some lightly salted highly spiced grilled salmon. yummy. drank 2cupsof water.

THINGS TO WORK ON:
I'm trying hard to drink the required amounts of water, but it's really hard.
I really have to work on eating ALL OF MY MEALS!
I HAVE TO DRINK GREEN TEA.
I really can't eat all of the required fruits AND veggies. My stomach is pretty small. so, instead i will eat either 2 servings of veggies and 1 serving of fruit or vice versa. smile.gif

TOTAL WEIGHT LOST: 4 lbs.

Day 8 (11/13/07)

Still following the diet...
new stats:
weight: 136
total weight lost: 4 lbs.

my weight has stagnated, but i fit into my clothes better. I have been sorta gaseous :X but all of that fiber is good for me i guess.
I'm still struggling to drink all of my water. need to work on this!!!! i'm currently substituting my broccoli with carrots and celery instead. I've fought my sweet cravings by eating sweet fruit instead...(frozen longans, grapes, or other types of berries...)



Day 11 (11/16/07)

new stats:
weight: 134
total weight lost: 6 lbs.

not much difference. I'm drinking more water and tea. i'm trying to do bansinyok too. maybe i'll do it tonight. smile.gif

NEW UPDATE!!! 03/25/08

i didn't follow the diet completely and its been a while since I've posted.. sorry guys, i've just been really busy with school and work.. anyway, I tried to follow the diet as much as possible and i didn't lose 20 lbs. I think i probably would have if i did everything i was supposed to. Right now I am still shifting back from 129-132 lbs. Even though i didn't lose 20 lbs, I've reached my Goal weight. smile.gif YAY~!

I have a gym membership now and i try to exercise as much as possible. This is a really good diet. (but it can make you run to the bathroom a lot...high in fiber.. lol. ) I was never hungry and I had lots of energy for school and work. I would recommend that you preprepare your meals because if you are busy like me, it's very easy to get off track cuz you have to cook healthy.

if you guys are still doing this, please stay on track! remember a little a day is better than nothing!

I was actually looking up some info on calories today
And since 1 lb = 3500 calories...I got bummed out

But I have to do whatever it takes to tone up because I'll be starting Kumdo in a few weeks >__<

This diet sounds reasonable..I like that it doesn't restrict you to only a few types of food. It seems perfect for people who don't do sports or like exercising too much.

I'll try it out but I think I'm going to try and add some weight training as well since the more muscle you have the more calories you burn (or something like that) and I do an hour of golf a day

The only problem I would have is measuring my weight loss progress...because the scales here are ALL in kilograms =___=

Anyways, I ate potato pizza today so I'll begin this tomorrow!

I've been doing this diet for 4 days already, i don't know if I have lost anything yet. I gotta find out by stepping on a scale =D
Funny thing is I haven't been exercising, so occupied ><. I doubt I've lost anything T____T

your body doesn't burn a lot of calories to digest the raw fruits and vegetables ..
it just digests faster than other foods.
it takes 30 min for fruit to be digested in comparison to steak which takes 8-10 hours.

Gah, I need to stop eating that delicious Halloween candy...... >_<
I forgot about tea, but I did drink an extra bottle of water. And I ate my fruit before I ate the rest of my lunch. happy.gif Now I just have to remember to do that for all my other meals too....

Day Whatever-today-is:
Yeah, I pretty much give up. Between school and preparing for the holidays, there isn't much will left for a diet.
Maybe next year.....

i'm trying to lose 30 pounds by late january-early february!
i lost 15 over the summer unintentionally by doing something similar. I felt a lot better and found myself to have more energy. but yeah...with school and all, i managed to gain back 5 pounds =/
but oooh i'm excited to get back into it again! smile.gif

last time i did banshinyok for a week & lost 10 lbs.
-__- gained it back once i stopped doing it.
i'll add the two diets together :]

i'm gonna try to do this, but it's gonna be hard because i love food!
i've realized that i have not eaten any fruit since like summer...
so yeah, i'm gonna start eating a piece of fruit everyday and in the mornings i usually have coffee
but i'm gonna have green tea instead, even though i don't really like the taste much, i'm gonna have to force myself!
and i definitely can drink more water.

Okay, Green Tea is good, so maybe make that cold green tea? I mean I don't have any regular water at my house, I just stick the green tea bag in every bit of water I drink.

Oh, and by the way, drink plenty of water - more the better, because if you don't drink enough water, your body retains more water for emergencies, making you gain wait. Sure you might go pee really often at first, but later on, after you lose the weight, you'll be fine.

But the fruits/vegetables strictly aren't that necessary, just don't eat junk food.
However, if you find that you are meeting your goals of weight loss, reward yourself by allowing yourself a limited portion - like chocolate? Eat just one piece. Dark chocolate is preferred as well - milk chocolate has milkfat, and white chocolate is a complete and total no-no because it's entirely artificial and sugar.

Also, if you do powerwalk, always do minimum 20 minutes of muscle work beforehand, because for the first 20 minutes, your body burns nothing but glycogen, so doing muscle work is a win-win because it prepares you for the walk and builds up muscle.

Don't starve yourself, ever, you just lose muscle weight, which in turn reduces muscle density, which makes you use less calories, which makes you accumulate fat.

Always keep low on sodium (salt).

You don't necessarily need to 'drink' protein either. Grilled chicken breast or lamb chop is an excellent supply of protein, and taste good as well. Just don't go too heavy on the condiments.

3000 unused kcalories = 1 lbs of fat.

Several of you have perfectly normal BMIs. Or maybe it's the female psyche that's got a problem with even slight weight gains...

BMI = 21.4 - smack dab in the middle of the healthy weight range.

Maybe it's because I'm still kinda growing, but hell, I changed my lifestyle and it's gotten me pretty far. I actually gained weight while I was in Korea over the summer (August-September, went up to 73kg), but then I'm back down to 66.2 kg now, that's 6.8 kg, around 15.4 lbs for those of you keeping track.

Also, for those of you that are still in your early teens - you'll still be using far more calories most of the time, so no need to worry about it too much.

Another handy tip:
Since it's winter, most of you will likely be wearing long pants/jeans, covering up your ankles. I don't know for girls who wear straights, but I can manage to put on ankle weights under my jeans and cover them up. This extra ankle weight really helps overall, and when you take them off, you feel like you're flying. Running, to be honest, is by far the best exercise, and if you don't feel somewhat strained while you 'powerwalk' it's useless and you're not doing it hard enough. You need to push yourself to the limit, to the point where you're panting and/or gasping for air.

For those of you that are readers/enjoy reading, I'd also recommend the book French Women Don't Get Fat by Mireille Guiliano. I read the book in Korean, and it was a fascinating read - it also gives some awesome recipes for weight-loss food, such as leek soup and breadless pie.

People, think about your BMI before you GO ZOMG I NEED TO LOSE WEIGHT. There's a difference between toning up and losing weight.

And I seem to have puffed up a bit

Are there certain types of fruits that should be avoided? >.<

<milk.BOX>, I think banshinyok is the diet method where you sit in a bathtub with really hot water up to your bellybutton for 40 minutes. I tried it once but I got sooo dizzy @.@;;

this is a little diet plan i drew up for my 3-4 week 20 pounds loss diet
(btw..STEAM YOUR BROCCOLI, if u dont u atleast have to leave it in vinegar, cuz u gotta get all the bad things out of it)

breakfast- 6:50
special k cereal wit 2%low fat milk
2 pieces of whole wheat bread 40 cals per slice

im at school for my snack...soo help me out on this

lunch: 11:00
salad,
whole wheat sandwich with lettuce/tomato/turkey/oil vinegar

last meal-ish- 3:20
salad with avacado/mushrooms with some vinnegrette dressing

6:30-8:15- tae kwon do


after this i have NOOOOO idea wat to do HELP!!

a healthy adult needs to eat at least 2,000 kcal to keep the energy im concerned because ur eating way less under 300 kcal?? that's like starving yourself... and do u even have the energy to do so??

the cold water will only burn like 10kacl which is NOT a lot because lets say u then chew a bubblegum then u gain the 10 kcal back. << this is true got it from my dietitian teacher << she has a degree in this.

If it says a "nutritionist" suggested this they did not actually go to school to get a degree. they are certified because anyone for an amount of $500 and then some can get a certificate for being a nutritionist.

In order for me to lose weight, i have to eat 1500 cal and less. eating 2000 cals a day would make me gain weight. 1000-1500 cals a day is standard for most people.

I'm not ONLY consuming 300 cals a day. it's 300 or less + 4 servings of fruits/veggies, 4X a day. I don't think anyone would be starving, but they might be bored with their food choices. smile.gif

I don't think there's any fruits that you're supposed to avoid... but i'm sure eating fruits can't get you fat... maybe you should vary your fruits. Instead of persimmons all the time you can eat apples, bananas, pinapples etc. smile.gif some fruits have been known to cause gas too... that might be a reason why you feel "plumper".
