Anticipating this. This can be the rating winner next season because of the names Shingo Katori & Yuko Takeuchi attached to it.

I wanted to say YAY a drama with Shota but the plot sounds like such a drag. Pictures?
Hope that Shota at least has good hair in this one, finally.

This maybe in Fuji TV's golden Monday slot but it sounds horribly dull.
Official website:
http://wwwz.fujitv.co.jp/rose/index.htmlThe press conference for the drama was held on 18 December at Fuji TV's bay studio at Seikai, Tokyo, and attended by Katori Shingo, Takeuchi Yuko and the rest of the main cast. The scriptwriter for Bara No Nai Hanaya is Nojima Shinji, who was also responsible for the scripts for Pride, Koukou Kyoshi, Hitotsu Yane no Shita, Aikurushi, Strawberry on the Shortcake, Golden Bowl, etc. Bara No Nai Hanaya is a human love story that revolves around Shiomi Eiji, a flower shop owner who is single-handedly raising his 8-year-old daughter, and Shiroto Mio, a blind woman, illustrating various types of love - between siblings, parent and child, neighbours.
The drama will start airing on Mondays from 14 January 2008, 9:00 - 9:54.

Shizuku is played by Yagi Yuki. She didn't appear during the press conference. Character information seems scanty at the moment.

Episode 1 Synopsis
Eiji raises his 8-year-old daughter, Shizuku, while running a flower shop. Lately, he's been bothered that Shizuku has, for some reason, started wearing a hood. One rainy day, he meets Mio, a blind woman who is seeking shelter from the rain, in front of his shop. Eiji's heart is moved by her forthright words. Mio comes again some days later and hits it off well with Shizuku. Meanwhile, the doctor Anzai starts monitoring Eiji secretly.

From Japan Times:
SMAP band member Shingo Katori, whose last TV drama job was playing a monkey, gets to be more than human in the new series "Bara no Nai Hanaya (A Florist Without Roses)" (Fuji, Monday, 9 p.m.). Katori plays Eiji, a young widower with an 8-year-old daughter, Shizuku. He saves his money for years to fulfill his dream, which is to open a flower shop.
In the opening episode, the various characters who will change Eiji's and Shizuku's lives are introduced. A blind woman named Miou (Yuko Takeuchi) waits out a rain shower under the awning in front of Eiji's shop, and he invites her in for a cup of tea. Shizuku's teacher, Yuki (Yumiko Shaku), comes by to tell Eiji that his daughter is very popular in class, which surprises Eiji since Shizuku is very shy and tends to always hide her face. What Eiji doesn't know is that his middle-aged neighbor, Keiko, has told Shizuku the truth of her mother's death. However, the most important new friend that Eiji makes is Kudo, a host at a nightclub where Eiji delivers flowers.

To me,
THE BEST FIRST EPISODE OF THE ENTIRE SEASON so far!

Nope, Hachikuro can't even come close, let alone One-Pound Gospel. It's THAT GOOD!

It's true, the first episode is 22.4%

And you guys can go download it on D-Addicts with sub now, Love Song has finished subbing it. And I think it won't be long before it's uploaded to Veoh. Watch out for that too!

The first episode is subbed in English and out. It's very good. A few shocking parts, and it sort of leaves you very sad a little confused. I can't wait to see episode two.

Definitely best drama this season. I like watching Yuko's drama, but I am not a fan of her. I don't find her that pretty and sometimes she can get annoying, but there is something about her that I can't name. I like watching her despite her annoying quality.
This is Shingo's first drama for me (other than the parody and one episode of Galileo). I have to agree that I think he is going to laugh or make a joke any minute, but it doesn't bother me much and he is such a nice guy (for now).

I know.. and I actually
thought she was really blind but she was just putting up an act with the other guy(forgot his name) but I really want to know what is the purpose why they're doing that to Shiomi Eiji. Now, I want to watch ep. 2.

there are 3 english hardsubbed released by Love Songs (working with SARS team). So far so good. I haven't seen Shingo acts in such a long time. The last one was in Love Letter with Etsushi Toyokawa. I must say that i like his character in Bara No Nai Hanaya.
the girl who acted as Shingo's daughter is really cute...she made me cry in the first episode =___=

This show is absolutely great! (sounds like Tony The Tiger...)
I was so surprised when I realized that she may not be blind because her acting, as a blind person, was fantastic. Then, when it was revealed that she wasn't blind, I was even more impressed by the way she switches back and forth between seeing and blind. Her character also switches back and forth, too. In reality, she's playing two different characters at the same time.
And, the rest of the cast are also superb; especially the little girl and Shota. The story is mysterious and intriguing.
There's no complaint with this drama.

Feb 26 2008, 03:34 AM
Actually, it was pretty obvious she's not blind even in the first episode. When she walked into her room. The first thing she did was turn on the light. Do blind people really need light? If she was blind, she would take off her shoes and coat first etc before reaching for the light, that's if she even needed it. She can't see

Right now, I'm d/l ep 3 and 4 so I'm still looking forward to this drama. I still wondering why the doctor is taking revenge on Shiomi Eiji. I think his daughter is Shiomi Eiji's old lover.. that's why I'm thinking he's taking revenge on him because of her death.
