ok so i **** love S2000's being at the age of 16 i've thought about getting one as a first car, probably at the end of next year.

Yes it's possible, weekly income of $500 = $21k but realisticly in a kid and always wana spend so about $15-18k in the end. i know my rents are more then happy to chip in 5-10k (as im their youngest son which they <3) and my two older brothers want a S2000 as well. so i guess it's a win win situation?

or am i just dreaming and should just buy my friends bro's eg civic for 3k/ take my bro's mirage and drop a mivec engine into it OR should i just wait until im 19 and get passed down to me my bro's mitsubishi TT 3000gt (which i crashed, not really left it in gear and bro started it and car jumped and hit another one LOL)

Potty mouth. You have 2 warnings left before you get banned. Read and follow the rules.

21k AUD for s2000? wat year? all the s2000's i've seen still cost a bomb even for quite an old pre-owned one.
DaviiPi___
30k+ for au S2000's

i should have hve about 30k in the end since i didn't mention how much my bro's are going to throw in BUT im willing to sacrafice a year of uni (if i do get in) and get a 10k loan or whatever and work for a whole year paying off all debt's.
ongi3000
^yeh but don't forget u also gotta pay for insurance which ain't cheap for newbies. also, is it really worth that much to u to sacrifice so much just for a car? petrol is also increasing crazily in price due to higher oil prices. i'm not trying to discourage u (also soz for not answering ur Q, leave it to the car guys tongue.gif) but ur still young, think appropriately about it.
mroh
take the civic or get some other beater car, keep that for a year or two, then get a s2000, pretty sure you'll learn to appreciate it even more then you probably thought. also like others have mentioned, insurance for you will be a B*tching and if you were to wait awhile without accidents it will save you alot of money.
Laxntiga
I would say.... If you really wanted to drive an s2k later on down in life, get something as similar to it as you can. Rwd, light, convertible... Miata. I say this because, you could learn how a RWD handles, accelerates, etc. etc. RWD cars and FWD cars handle and behave completely differently. After driving my CR-V in the rain and snow, then driving my Miata, the difference is like heaven and earth. Your friend's civic is nothing like driving a rwd roadster.

v8subie
You guys got a better selection of vehicles in Australia than us in the U.S. There are plenty of potential cars out there besides a S2000, EG, or GTO (3000gt).
switchlanez
If that's what you really want I say go for it and screw the rest. Be patient and save up, it's not that expensive. But please no more rookie mistakes if you do get it. Where's Darling... she would have some say in this.

I wouldn't get it as your first car. You've got insurance that be like robbery every month on that car. I love the S2000 too but I don't have the money for it or the insurance. You could spend your money better than go broke on a S2000.

Personally, I'd get the EG Civic and drop a GSR/LS in and call it a day. $2000/$800 on top of the $3000 EG.
azn akira
i love the s2000, it is one of my favorite cars. however, it is not a beginners car. it is pretty tricky to drive it fast. its really stable up to about 8/10's driving. but if you try to push yourself or the car without experience, then you will probably end up crashing it. i would suggest learning how to drive in a cheaper rwd car. a non turbo silvia would be a good learning car. silvia's are one of the easiest rwd cars to learn on, if not that then a miata.
Laxntiga
+1 for the Miata

Either way... parts galore for both the 240sx (s13, s14) and the Miata.

I had trouble deciding which to get, so I just saved up 3k'ish and bought the first car that had a clean title, no rust, good shape. If you get a Miata, you can go topless in the summer, oooooooooo yeahhhhhhh.
phantompc4
how about just dont buy a honda?

if u crashed your brothers 3000gt what makes u think u wont crash this s2k? dont forget gas and maintenance, a sports car isnt just a start and go car. u gotta give it care. and theres insurance u got enough money for that?
mistapooh
Lol, tough decision. It's all fun spending and dreaming now since you're young and in high school, but when you graduate and bills start hitting you, you'll probably wish you had saved up. I don't know about your financial situation though. If I was in your shoes, I'll sacrifice a little fun for something cheap, until I'm better off and know 100% that I can pay to play with the s2k.
whazzup101
dude, you are freaking spoiled if you can get that s2000. just get your bros car and live with it cuz i think you're living a dream if you think you can get it.

how exactly is he spoiled?
visuelz
I'd say get it because it's a nice car and it's fun as hell to beat on it.
Parolee
If you can afford it, buy it.
AllaN_K_H
For the price of S2000, I'd much rather buy myself a 350z or G35.
BUT, I have seen some really smokin S2000's in my life, one of the most impressive cars for mod, just too expensive for it's performance.

The car is not impressive towards modding because the engine is nearly maxed out from factory and does not respond to most mods. Also, Id say its very much worth the cost in regards to its performance (100hp/ltr motor, suspension/handling).

OP: Honestly, I would not recommend this for your first car like others have said. Most people who are not used to RWD (even some who are!) will spin out the S and possibly crash it. Being used to an RWD will decrease your chances of making a very costly mistake. Fixing an s2000 is NOT cheap.

Whatever you decide to decide, good luck!

umm its the cheapest car in the premium roadster class and has performance that equals the other cars.
some-azn-guy
i say get it if you really want it. but i also say 'just know what you're getting into before you buy it.' as you might get more than expected.

I used to have an ap1 s2000 w/ hardtop, i loved it! 9k all day....

I hate it when the interior gets hot because of the transmission being in the middle.
DaviiPi___
bro's transferred over 10k's to my account which i can't touch for the time being so now im like.. wow.. and my job finally gave me the 1k they owe me....

if only i had another 20...

im considering an NA Sr20 S13 then throwing a ichigo face conversion on it...

but 'realisticly' the cars i have lined up are:

NA Supra - 15k
NA S13 - 7-9k

(the S2k is a 50/50 chance that i'd get one)

no im not spoiled... i just aim high and work hard towards my goals.

Did you manage to find the secret compartment of your S2k??

did you take the air box off before driving?

if you didn't you just missed some of the greatest things about this car..

The secret compartment is not hard to find.
Taking the airbox out result in heat soak and lose throttle response. Only real benefit is the sound.

I havent driven my S for three months and driving it again is a thrill.

...im envious...

every S owner says it sounds so much cooler with the airbox off.

is this car hard to handle?? coz if im just gonan buy it and wrap it around a pole then i might as well not buy one

out of interest.

did you have fun figuring out how to reverse and finding where fuel cap button thingy was?

grrr i wana test drive one.
☆원이☆
how bout getting an AEM V2 intake..
s2k handling is okay but...
snap some new coilovers then your s2k will be pretty beast..

Every S owner you've talked to is a moron. Taking your air box = no. The air filter is there for a reason. Yes it sounds awesome, it won't sound awesome when you suck a big rock inside. CAI is a better option than going all naturale for your intake.

Isn't the reverse gear in front of the first gear on the S2k? Or is it like every other Honda 6 speed where it's way over on the bottom right.

Im sorry, but with the type of questions youre asking - you are leading me to believe that you are a good candidate for this....

And stop talking about the air box! That is so goddamn retarded. If you do purchase one, go buy a Comptech Intake - that way your ass dont risk the chance of hydrolock and your car will 'sound uber cool'.........

Reneis - Why were you without your car for 3 months? Ive been without mine for 3 weeks and I am SOOOOO brokenhearted! sad.gif

the s2k with stock suspension is still amazing. with a good alignment it will perform better than 90% of people can drive. besides unless you spend big $$ the coilovers will probably perform worse than stock. most people will think its better because its stiffer though

When driving under normal conditions, this car handle easily. But when you start having fun with this car, you better know to handle it or you'll end up side ways.

Reverse is pushing down on the stick and shift right and down. Fuel cap is near the door jam. Pull it. Anyways, all these questions can be answered in the manual. There's also a start engine button. smile.gif

yup. the air box just covers a cone filter. its hard to find an after market CAI that can beat the stock intake system.

Nice. It should be a beast once its tuned. Let me know how it goes. What other mods do you have?

btw, the CR in GPW looks good. I noticed you refer your car as a him..lol

Yes, my car is my little boy. smile.gif He means the world to me....

I dont have other mods - to get this turbo kit, my car had to be stock. (Turbo is fr33 s0n!) wink.gif

After initial tune, its probably only going to hit about 280ish rwhp. Thats perfect for me though, I really dont need much more power than that.

CR does look good in white, but that Apex Blue Pearl gives my tummy butterflies. I love it!

Tell me about your car!!

You must have a pretty decent job for a 16yo to earn $500 a week.

you're young.. there'll be many years for you to get a s2k or any other car, at that..
it's not a beginner's car.. and honestly.
do you really want to put ALL your money into it when there is a much cheaper option available?

You definitely got hooked up:)

My ride is simple. No big mods.

AP1 GPW
17" gunmetal Volks Te37 bolted with black Rays nuts.
OEM lip kit
HKS exhaust with test pipe.
AP2 shift knob.
5% tint

The GPW CR looks tempting though lol.
I remember you posting pics of your NFR. It looks real clean.

So tell me what do you do?
