Cause that's what happened to me. Before I got my iPod nano about 1 year and a half ago, I used to scoff at the iPod and think it was overrated. But I really wanted an mp3 player so on the advice of a Bestbuy person, my dad got the 1 gb 1st generation nano...and that soon became my baby. lol XD The iPod is just so easy to use and convenient that you begin to understand why it's so popular. And every brand will have it's defaults, but just how many brands have a store located near you that can help you instead of sending in the product? Now I have the new 80GB Classic ( ), and I <3 it like whoa. So I was wondering has anyone else gone through this situation?

I used to hate the iPod because when they first came out it was for Macs only and I was an avid PC user. Now, I think iPods are okay since they have so much third party products and what else. But they're still overrated.

Haha, same here. My brother kept telling me, "iPods are bad, they give you viruses, they're not worth it!" (even though he never had one before, psh!)
But when I got mine, I fell in love with it. It's not bad, it doesn't harm your computer. It's so convenient!

My family all got iPods, I got an iRiver. One year later all theirs are broken, battery dead, or error shows up, but mine still works.

They got cool looking gadgets and good support, but that's about it for me. They are other products put out by other companies that are just as good or even better.

I never really used to scoff at it, before I got mine. But when mine started stuffing up, I scoffed at it A LOT and despised it.
I still do. But I still want a new iPod, LOL!

yeah...i've done that a lot before i got my iPod nano this x-mas. what i really wanted was a MP3 but when i got my iPod it's like "This is soooo much better!"

I still do. I don't like it because of factors that I don't like about it. Especially being tied down to iTunes and not being UMS. I admit, it does have an easy UI, but that's the only plus for me. Not enough to convert me into a iPod user.

+1 and when I had my 4gig Mini, the battery died from the standard battery life to 1-2 hour play time in like, 1 year. =(

I DID! But then I got a mac and a free ipod nano, and I can't believe I fell in love with their scroll wheel and everything else about it. It never leaves my pocket! With the exception of charging... ;]

LOL, i thought it was overrated too, until my mum got me one for my bday. It's so easy to use and such.

ive always hated it sooo much until i got a coupon for a nano... so i was half forced to buy it.. my nano has since been broken, and im not looking at ipods anymore... theyre just overpriced... and the sound chips arent great either.... worse than iaudio, creative, and kenwood

I got a 30GB one because there wasn't any iRiver's at... futureshop... or wherever. And then I was like: it's cheap at Costco, so let's buy it! XD
And now I love it~~ LOL, so easy to use. :3

Nope. My brother has one . But he had to turn in his ipod 3 times( twice for the 4th Gen , then once for the 5th Gen) for service because it kept screwin up(being the headphone jack didnt work, and twice with the harddrive failing on him). Im happy with my Creative Zen Vision M , never had to send it in once. The only pluses I give the ipods is the looks of it. Still think IPODS are still way overated

I always thought it was overrated but I got it as a Christmas present this year. So I use it because it has more storage, but even then, I prefer not to.

the ipod is definately hyped up and it does have probs; its far from perfect. but it is a nice toy and it has its niche . but i think everyone knows the ipod has the greatest market share for mp3/media players. maybe because of brilliant marketing? but either way, i still like my ipod(s)...although i do complain about some lack of features sometimes...

i know what you're talking about. i still think the ipod's totally overrated. i only got the 1st gen nano cuz my sister gave me hers after she got her touch. they're pretty and all. i don't know exactly why i don't like them, it's just that EVERYBODY has them. i love how it's small and i can take it to the gym compared to my zune. it's easy and simple, but the battery dies out a lot quicker than i'd like it to. i have to charge it everyday. it also scratches really easily. my sister gave it to me all scratched before i could get a cover for it.

Like everybody said, I thought it was way too overrated.
But after somebody stole my samsung mp3 ( ), I've decided to give the ipod a try.
And now I love it It did have some problems but they were all minor.

i didn't like them then and i still don't like them now.
my friends had ipods and they all broke before my mp3.
their gadgets are cool but they aren't the greatest.
they are overrated.

i don't like the ipod cuz u cant load songs from another computer, or risk losing ur whole damn playlist...but i got it as a present and i use it anyway.

and on top of things. less than a month after i bought my nano. the video nano came out!

Before I just thought they were overrated and overpriced.

Then after years of aggravation and not having an MP3 player that just did what I wanted to, I finally caved in and bought a 2nd gen Nano.

I really haven't looked back since.

i used to hate the mini cos i thought it looked so ugly in pictures but when i saw my friend's it looked really sleek so i got one for myself XD

i was extremely anti-ipod until three days ago when i bought my 80gig ipod classic....now i'm smitten.

I used to like them, now I don't like them.... WAYYYYYY too overrated.

I have to admit that I used to scoff at them a couple of years back. I saw them as something that is wayyy to overrated and not worth getting. I always thought that they had bad reviews(I mean a lot of people said that they break easily). I bought a Sansa mp3 player(which laster for like a year and a half before my dog decided to chew on the usb cord) when my dad asked what I wanted(he wondered why I wouldn't just get the Ipod).

But ever since I got my 30GB Ipod video in the middle of last year, I've been in love with it<3 I regret not trying out the older models(I really want the Ipod mini for some reason) but I'm pretty happy with my Ipod video=)

Actually you can, just put your iPod in the manual setting. That's what I do. ^^ Now I can get songs from other comps and not lose mine. XD

I was like that too because it was so overrated. but after getting my shuffle (1st and 2nd gen) I was hooked. probably because it was so easy to use and so light (compared to my cd player that was replaced by my shuffle)

Like everyone else said, I always thought they were soo overrated.

My friend managed to convince me to get one though, when he showed me his mini. So I got the 2g silver nano when it came out and fell in love with it after my disaster of a Creative Zen that stopped working after 3 months. Now, I have an 80g classic and I'm even more in love with iPods.

I love all the accessories but if you buy them at like.. Future Shop or something they're pretty overpriced.

I mean, I dished out $35 ish + 14% tax for a case when I got my iPod at BestBuy.

Yeah like a loooong time ago (only 'cause i was sort of jealous for the people who have it). I fell in love with it when my uncle gave it to me but now I hardly use it.
