2. TOPICS NOT ALLOWED IN GENERAL DISCUSSION.

- Games, quizzes, surveys, tests and the like
- "I'm leaving soompi for a while" goodbye threads (These are no longer allowed anywhere on Soompi, please view Member 411 for more details)
- Picture threads (these go into 411)
- Gift idea/discussion threads (there is a pinned topic for gift ideas in Love & Relationships)
- Homework threads (these go into Pre-College) This means surveys, research help, equations, etc for school!!!! Do not post them here, they will be moved!
- Threads that encourage spamming (advertisements, donations, etc.)
- Random stuff that should be posted in the available pinned Random Thread
3. IF YOUR TOPIC WAS CLOSED, THEN DON'T MAKE ANOTHER TOPIC ASKING WHY.
- If you want to know why your topic was closed, then look at the very last entry or the topic description and it should be an explanation of why the thread was closed
4. 20-CHARACTER RULE & SWEAR FILTER.
- Do not bypass either rule by using gibberish or symbols to replace certain letters. Smilies-only replies or merely quoting a post just to fill the 20-character requirement are not allowed. Do not just quote a post even if it's the same thing you're thinking in your mind. Post something original! People often neglect to read the rules, especially this one. If you're caught, you will get warned.
5. BE CIVILISED.
- Even if you disagree with a particular poster or topic, please do not make offensive, racist or derogatory remarks.
6. RANDOM TOPICS.
- Do not start threads advertising the fact that you are bored. These encourage spam. You should post in the "The Random Thread (version 1.6)" thread instead. If you post in your topic "This sounds kinda random but..." or something similar, it will be closed and you will be told to post it in the random thread.
7. DO NOT POST DUPLICATE THREADS.
- Please search through the pages (at least five!) before you start a new topic. Sometimes the question you want to ask has been answered in a previous topic. Duplicate threads will either be closed or merged with the original thread. It should not be at the inconvenience of the moderators to find the previously posted topics for you.
8. SCARY MATERIAL
- If you are posting a topic that contains material that may be upsetting or scary, please post a warning to the effect. Threads without adequate warning of the scary content will be closed.
- Disgusting and inappropriate content will not be tolerated either.
- Only links should be posted of graphic images, do not add the IMG tags.
9. LANGUAGE/TRANSLATION QUESTIONS/
- Throughout this section, there are several topics for different languages.
- The topics on popular demand are already pinned (Chinese, Korean, Japanese)
- Do not make topics asking for something to be translated if there's already a topic for the language!
- There are many other ones that are not pinned due to lack of popular demand (Vietnamese, Filipino/Tagalog, etc) so please look back a few pages, at least FIVE pages, before you think of posting. Again, it should not be at the inconvenience of the moderators to find the previously posted topics for you.
10. POST IN THE RIGHT SECTION!
- Although this section is considered General Discussion, there's like at least 30 other sections on Soompi Forums (so many I don't even wanna count them all properly) So PLEASE, take the time to scroll down the main forum page to find the right section to post in.
11. PET DISCUSSION
- There is a pinned pet thread... please use it! If you just want to show off your pet's pictures, there's a pet pics thread in 411.
12. USE GOOGLE (or some other search engine) BEFORE YOU ASK!
- If you have any questions you wish to post as a topic, please look it up on the Internet first. Google, Yahoo and MSN are search engines, Soompi Forums is not.
- This includes topics about traveling, mailing, credit cards, a broken refrigerator bug problems, etc.
- These can be solved by 1) going to the Post Office 2) calling the banks 3) Looking through the Yellow Pages 4) Asking your parents or friends 5) asking the travel agents 6) You get the idea... 7) AND OF COURSE USING THE INTERNET SEARCH ENGINES!
13. NO "STUPID" THREADS!!
- Similar to the random topics/posts rule, please don't post topics that are just full of nonsense. Asking whether you would be raped or stalked by a pervert is not appropriate nor very intelligent to post.
14. RANTING TOPICS
- Please do not create your own topic to vent out your personal issues, there is a pinned Ranting thread ready for you to blow off any steam
- Do not add in "what do you think about this" or "what would you do" or "so on" if it's clearly a ranting thread. Your topic will be closed and you will be told to use the ranting thread instead.
15. RELIGION/PHILOSOPHY/POLITICS/ECONOMICS
- Of course, topics regarding religion and philosophy are welcome in General Discussion
- Threads regarding politics or economics should go to in Current Events
- People are defensive and sensitive about their beliefs, so please be extra respectful of your own views
- If you do not agree with someone's religious, political and/or philosophical belief, please CAREFULLY think over your own response and how others would react before posting it
- Bashing the religious, philosophical or political beliefs of others is not tolerated. You will be warned.
- Please be rational and civilized.
Please do your bit to keep the forum tidy! Moderators cannot catch every single person that breaks a rule, so if you notice someone violating our rules, please use the Report button and a staff member will address to your concern ASAP
