i know that the ipods support other languages besides english,
but does anyone know of any other mp3 players that do the same?
you know, like so the text won't show up as boxes or %&*$%*#$& randomness.
i can't really explain what i mean very well. wacko.gif

but if anyone gets what i'm saying, and could help, i'd appreciate it.
i was thinking of getting the sony nwz-a816 in particular - does that have intl language support?
almost all of my songs are going to be in sthing other than latin/english characters,
so i'm going to have to be able to read them - it's a big factor in my decision-making.

thanks in advance to anyone who can help!

Creative, Cowon, iRiver, Apple, Toshiba, Samsung, all have language support.

Dunno about Sony, but I'm guessing they probably do since it's an Asian company.

Zune doesn't have it.

I have the Clix2 and it can support all the language! And I believe Sony should have all the language support as well.

Yeah I think most do, but like the ID3 tags have to show up correctly on your computer as well. Like if it doesnt show up on your computer, the player wont either I think it has to do with the unicode tag things.

You'd think Sony would, but don't just assume. I remember reading that Sony players sold in the US and Canada don't support Asian languages, or at least not all of them. I was looking into a Sony player for a while (don't remember which one, sorry) until I did some research and found it wouldn't actually have the language support I needed. Do a background check first if you're looking into a Sony player.

As others have mentioned, Samsung's players have good language support. My Samsung player is great. It displays track info in Thai, Vietnamese, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Arabic, and Greek just fine. You can also easily set the player language to be in like 20 different languages if you want.

apple doesn't have all language support
they only support the main asian languages
(simplified and traditional chinese. korean. japanese)
other asian languages like thai is shown as nothing at all.

it's more likely to be your computer problem or title of it you can always rename it
normally if it's doesn't read it shouuld have a box looking kind not symbol :/
plipxplop
sandisk does
i have this one [looks better in real life, this one looks all gross and plastic ish]
http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?sk...d=1188561248530

but you gotta edit the song name in the language you want in windows media player
or else when you put it in the mp3 the words are gunna be really weird looking
no need to change the language part in the mp3 justset it to w/e lang you feel comfortable reading
and you're done

I have this one from Samsung:
Samsung T9
Simple, but as far as i know and from experience, it can read the common Asian text formats (Krn, Chinese, Japanese. But i have to find out about others). smile.gif
LOVE IT!!^ rolleyes.gif ^ (edit: Just found out through a review here on soompi that it also supports Thai & European languages as well.. but i suppose you only needed the basics. sweatingbullets.gif )

And i love the Microsoft's Zune, but i know you have to encrypt some kind of code into it to be able to show the Asian text.^^

iPods can read basic ones like Korean, Japanese, and Chinese so those are good.
Then you have Creative, Toshiba, Iriver and Samsung.
Yeah about Sony. I think it's only select mp3 players. Because I had a friend who had a sony mp3 player and all the characters would end up funky or would show as boxes.
allycat415
