yeah it is not that hard i found out.

basically i needed the soybean paste and some dashi(japanese soup stock), seaweed, and some tofu slices

fresh is better. the packet is kind of expensive.

if your korean, you can use dwenjang and make it. miso tastes like very light dwenjangjjigae to me.

yes it does taste like dwenjaang
and you basically boil water
you can put in stock instead of spending all this time putting stuff
then put in the japanese soy bean paste
then add the tofu preferably in cubes
and like eat it

but packets do save time

i buy miso paste at korean or japanese grocery stores and all you need to do is add water, tofu, and seaweed. dashi flavoring is already added to the paste. it is full of msg tho >.< but it tastes hella good just like what you get at restaurants.

looks like this

its about 1tablespoon miso paste to 1 cup water.

just use a package of bonito dashi with about a cup of boiling water and about a tablespoon of aka/shiro miso. You can add tofu, wakame, fu or aburaage if you want. Natto is also awesome in miso soup if you eat it.

Imo, miso soup made from the paste tastes a lot better than the ones from packages...
