not sure if it's because i'm still recovering from friday night, or the culmination of working out intensively over the past few weeks, but no matter how much i slept this past weekend, or ate to keep my energy up, i couldn't help but feel pretty weak and tired this morning. as a result, i find no motivation to get work done today, and i'm sorta stuck trying to get my energy back up and get crackin on my project.
what are some good ways to get myself back on my feet? or is this a really bad case of monday blues that i can crack out of come tomorrow?

i just got wasted on sat.
a good strong coffee with some chocolate and a cig. will help me through about 2 hours.
after the 2 hours... i go do the same thing
plus it's the monday blues...

I drink a cup of coffee or hot chocolate and pig out on my snacks at work (chocolates, candy and biscuits).

I go to my car and sleep.
Then come back refreshed.
Most of the time, i just hope i wake up the same day.

If I have one of those days, usually I just take it easy. I go down for smoke breaks, buy snacks, drink coffee. Then I start making a list of things that need to be done that day and what can be pushed to tomorrow. Then I just do what's on that list and relax for the rest of the day.

that's a good idea. i might up that idea and just go home and take a half day. log back on at night for a couple of hours and play catchup, and finish up the scraps the next day, earlier in the morning.
i got into work around 7am today and got some nice work done. my hours are from 9~5:30ish, but today went from 7~4:30 and felt fantastic! i should work earlier from now on

some time i just tell the boss i'm heading out to pick up a coffee and will be back in 10 min.
then i head over to starbux and order an upside down vanilla quad con pana
and sip on that for the rest of the day.
i think it's that quick drive out that helps me. just getting out of the office for a few min. and have a drive

I'm not employed right now but I totally agree with what you said. Just going outside and walking around, or just changing your surroundings for a few minutes, can make a world of difference

Ha! Me too. After lunch my stomach is full and I feel like lying down and relaxing for a while. Especially if I've had something good to eat. Monday is always my slow day. When I'm feeling unproductive, I try to pretend I have a deadline and need to get this work done by the end of the day. I even try to walk around the office really fast to give myself the impression that I'm pressed for time. Right now with tax season in full effect, I am constantly busy. It sucks to be working until 10.00PM every night and still not get work finished!

Take half a day off && do stuff for yourself.
Relax and enjoy life without the stresses for abit to get you back in the mood.
Shopping is a great stress reliever
Or take a warm bath, go to a spa (?), treat yourself.

Basically the fear of the consequences..makes me clean up my act *cough* procrastination. Just keep thinking about the consequences of not doing what you have to do, having no future, and then you kind of get scared into doing it.
And if you're still tired, either get more sleep or stash up on energy drinks/coffee (very bad, but it works for emergency/cram sessions).

Ten Best Things To Say If You Get Caught Sleeping At Your Desk:
10. "They told me at the blood bank this might happen."
9. "This is just a 15 minute power-nap like they raved about in that time
management course you sent me to."
8. "Whew! Guess I left the top off the White-Out. You probably got here
just in time!"
7. "I wasn't sleeping! I was meditating on the mission statement and
envisioning a new paradigm."
6. "I was testing my keyboard for drool resistance."
5. "I was doing a highly specific Yoga exercise to relieve work-related
stress. Are you discriminatory toward people who practice Yoga?"
4. "Why did you interrupt me? I had almost figured out a solution to our
biggest problem."
3. "The coffee machine is broken..."
2. "Someone must've put decaf in the wrong pot..."
And the #1 best thing to say if you get caught sleeping at your desk...
1. " ... in Jesus' name. Amen."

Oh my God! I've used variations of excuse number four numerous times. However it's more like "You just broke my concentration! Now I have to start all over again!"

When I'm not up to working, I kind of mess around at my desk. It reminds me of "Office Space" when he's telling the two bosses that he just sits at his desk and only spends about 15 minutes a day of actually working. I'm not that bad, but once, gosh, I have no idea why I was feeling sooooo freakin' tired and aggitated, but I came back from lunch and just stacked my files around on my desk for the rest of the day. No one noticed. LOL

Well this whole week so far (it's thursday right now) I haven't had much work to do actually I've only done about 7 hours of work since monday....so a lot of downtime which is good for me cuz I get paid for basically waiting for more work, no complaints here.... Just been lurking the forums and watching some dramas online....
