Okay, so this one girl in my class was telling me about this diet and I got really interested in it after she told me you lose about 10 pounds in a week. She also told me it was like FDA approved and stuff, but she didn't really know everything about it so I looked it up on google.
I want to try to start this diet tomorrow and see if it actually works

Has anyone tried it? results?
If others want to try I'll right down what you're supposed to eat in the 7 days.
[if you guys want to know more about it and stuff just google it

]
I looked on a lot of the sites to get the daily meal plan... so i give credit to google

there were two different versions.. one with rice and one with beef so i wrote down both..
General Motors Diet
EVERYDAY YOU DRINK 10 GLASSES OF WATERDAY 1) All fruits [especially melons like watermelons and cantaloupes] but no banana.DAY 2) All vegetables.. try eating a boiled potato for breakfast [try avoiding oil and coconut when cooking vegetables]DAY 3) Mixture of fruits & vegetables [no bananas & no potatoes]DAY 4) 8 Bananas, 3 glasses of milk, & 1 bowl of soupDAY 5) 1 cup of rice, 6 whole tomatoes, & increase water 1 quart [drink 12 glasses instead of 10] / 2- 10 oz portions of lean beef & vegetables
DAY 6) 1 cup of rice & vegetables / beef & vegetablesDAY 7) 1 cup of rice, fruit juice, & vegetablesit's recommended that you wait 3-4 days before repeating this diet.

thing is can you keep the weight off after u stop the diet?
losing that many pounds after a week is not healthy. I'd be happy to lose 2 pounds a week

sounds a lot like the cabbage soup diet...my brother in law was on the cabbage soup diet and he lost a lot of weight but he didnt look healthy he looked more sick if anything...I suggest you run it by your doctor before you actually start. Also, the FDA usually doesn't approve a lot of things without a lot of research first, so you might want to double check that "FDA approved" statement o_o

Hmm dropping 10 pounds in a week seems dangerous but it'd be interesting to see the results. I wouldn't mind trying this, maybe I will try this for a week and see what happens.

you'll probably lose a lot of muscle as well as slow down your metabolism down. if you return back to your eating habits, you'll gain it back. on top of that, your metabolism will be lower because you lost muscle. don't do it, because even if it works, it'll work until you decide you dont wanna eat like this for the rest of your life [which will be after day 7]

if you follow the diet, you become a herbivore, and herbivores are good. i don't think it's a bad diet at all since you're eating veggies and fruits. i think it's bad because we're so used to eating meat and junk food that a veggie and fruit diet leaves us in awe.

I'm vegetarian in the first place... and I eat a TONNE of raw fruits and vegetables + grains every day.
I haven't lost weight at all. But I don't exercise, so... o_o;

in your case you eat it daily that your body is used to the raw foods...but this kind of "diet" refers to everyone else who like to eat fast food, junk, and all that kind of stuff...
I forgot to mention in my earlier post that the first couple pounds will be water weight for sure due to all the fiber you consume from the veggies and fruits o_o so get to know your toilet well...

like others said, you'll probably lose it fast and then just gain it back when u start eating normal again.
i guess it could be good if you wanna lose weight for a certain event or something..
i'd rather just do it the slower but more effective way = exercise and eat balanced diet

All this diet is pretty much making you stop eating as much as you use to by filling yourself with water. Which is good in some sense, but over all it's bad because you're suddenly adding so much water into you're system that can dilute your blood. Water is good but too much of anything is bad. Plus the weight you lose is just water weight. which mean you'll gain it all back the second you start eating normally again. Not to mention this diet seems to be missing a lot of essential minerals and vitamins that your body needs to work. Another thing, FDA doesn't approve of diets that adds the fact that you eat so little. FDA always says just eat right and excise for their most approved diets, other than that, they don't usually approve of things. Thank god for Nutrition class on educating me.

I don't think you guys should try this. It probably slows down your metabolism and you lose muscle.
Plus, after one week, you're going to gain some weight going back to your normal diet.
Just do it the old fashioned eat right and exercise way.

FDA can only approve of something if it deals with anything ingestied that is already made... and it deals with chemicals... if it is all natural supplements 100% then there needs to be no FDA approval... but what you have up there is a whole bunch of different recipies... so FDA cant really approve of that..
but i have seen people actually lose weight off of that.

For some reason...i think if you keep to that diet you will lose pounds but I don't think the weight will be kept off. T^T for two years i gained and lost weight until i finally lost 17 lbs ^^" but eating a lot of fruit does help just not so sure about eating it for whole day o.o

i just wanted to make myself clear..
i never said it was FDA approved..
i said the girl told me that.. -___-;;
and on the websites it said something with FDA cause it started with the gm company helping their employees lose weight or something -__-
and this is supposed to like clean out your body or something [i'm guessing from all that water?]
alsoooo you can keep repeating this.. but a website said that you should wait like 3-4 days before going on the diet again..
i haven't started yet because school food gets to me
so i decided i'm going to start next week.. maybe tomorrow -__-
& it's not like you're starving yourself
because first three days you can eat as much as you want..
i think you can eat as much vegetables and fruits as you want

you'd get sick of eating veggies before you eat so much of it that you create a huge surplus in calories

i wanna start this!! mayb i will tomorrow haha hm but all i can think about is like yummy candy and desserts ahhh
edit--
i started it today.
day one i ate: an orange for breakfast, grapes throughout the whole day, watermelon pieces, melon, cantaloupe and kiwi pieces, and having an apple for dinner. i drank 5 bottles of water not sure what a glass is. i had to go to the bathroom soo much today though haha. i will keep updating!
day two: i lost 5lbs already? lol weird but yea i weighed myself this morning. i am currently eating my potato as we speak. today i plan to have bell peppers (yellow and red) i have salad that im gonna make with lemon dressing. and green beans that im gonna put with lemon juice and black pepper. and mayb brocolli too.
day 3: i had grapes green beans bell peppers and apples. then i kinda cheated and at dinner ate salmon with clear noodles and brocolli yummm and i had sugarfree tea.
day 4: started out with banana and milk then mix of greenbeans brocolli and asparagus, a couple of grapes. went home had some more green beans brocolli asparagus (these were steamed btw) but by night i was starvin! i had soup like it says but then had banana peanut butter sandwich uhoh! with milk. so i kinda readjusted it
day 5: i give up... lol i would barf if i had 6 tomatoes today but i did run 2 miles this morning. i had granola and milk for breakfast. i have kept my 6lbs off

im pretty content.
i think jus starting this diet will keep u motivated. now even though im gonna stop this madness i am gonna eat healthy. cause i like how i lost 6lbs and it feels good! best wishes!

Mar 6 2008, 06:48 PM
err as pretty much everyone else already said, it seems pretty unhealthy to lose that much weight in a week. plus, wouldn't gain all the weight back (and possibly more) if you try to go back on a "normal" diet.
i would rather just exercise and eat more of the foods i actually want to it. it took months to lose and keep off 10ish pounds, but slowly and surely i'm losing weight. i never think it's a good idea these weird type of fad diets...
honestly 10-17 lbs in a week? =/// idk about that.

Mar 6 2008, 07:47 PM
10 pounds a week? are you going to the grammys or something??
losing that many pounds doesn't sound too healthy for me.
you're only supposed to loose 1-2 pounds a week. 10 is just crazy.
s a r a h
Mar 7 2008, 03:33 PM
lol that's the same thing i though too
like 10 pounds does sound like a lot
taht's why i'm wondering if anyone's ever tried it
and like if they actually lost all that weight
right now i'm like kinda desperate lol..
i just gained like 10-15 pounds since school started & it's driving me insane! :[
but i'm in lacrosse so we have like conditioning during the week
so i hope that helps? gahHh

you'd most likely only be losing water and muscle weight. after you get off this diet you'll just gain everything back unless you eat close to nothing (aka continue the diet)

My health teacher handed out this diet last year.
It's for Obese Patients with Heart conditions.
So I don't know if it's naturally good for those tha aren't morbidly obese...

After you stop going that 'diet', you will start eating normal again.
Thus, you will gain weight all over again, very quickly too.
But if you stick to it, then your weight will hit platogue (sp).
Since it's all you'll be eating.. unless you change your change up a bit o_o

just manage what you eat and do a crap load of cardio. my bro did that and lost 50lbs in a month. once your body is accustomed to the excessive energy usage from the cardio, you can eat like a pig and still maintain weight [assuming you do cardio and weights]. i eat like 10 times a day and still maintain

i'm gonna try this starting tomorrow (monday)
gosh~ nervous! LOL i get tempted by food a lot xP
i think i'll just do this for half of it~ because i don't
need to lose that many pounds O.O so i guess i'll
continue it for 3-4 days or something, and then just
slowly ease back into my regular eating habits~ just
have more exercise~

So I decided to try this and I started on Saturday.
I like fruits & veggies so it wasn't bad, but I didn't follow everything. I didn't drink the amount of water needed & I used other things for dinner. I.e. for my fruit dinner I made baked apple which has cinnamon & sugar, tonight I had stirfry veggies with some feta for taste.
I started at 115, and I weighed myself this morning at 112, but I did eat alot on friday so I think some of the weight was just stuff going through my system.

My friend did something really similar to this and she lost a lot of weight. When she started eating normally again, she only gained half of what she lost so she still managed to lose weight. She gave herself two weeks before repeating the diet again.
