Pistons + Mazda = Akira's Miata. congratulations you are the weakest link.
far as engines goes, long as that thing runs from point a to point b. i don't care.

doesn't the miata red line at 7200?
azn akira
Mar 8 2008, 03:31 AM
yeah its pretty sad. at least the power band is good. it feels like it would keep on making power past redline. I hate engines that fall on their face in high rpms.

I'd probably have to go with an inline or straight 6.
Generally these type of engines found on consumer vehicles aren't too high in displacement and aren't too low. A bit more balanced I'd say. They can also be made to be high revving and because with fewer moving parts than a v8, they can be more efficient. On the flip side, because it's generally larger displacement from an I-4 there'd be better power output.
But I'm just generalizing.
I mean I still love the boxer 6s found in Porsches, I love the screaming high revving rotaries, I love the high revving 4 bangers that just keep fighting, the muscular growl of v8+++ that pack a heavy punch. lol i'm only human.

I like high revvin' 4 bangers especially the K series and B series Hondas.

Inline 6 N/A ftw! There's a good feeling about putting out lots of power without a turbo. I'd love to do the same with 4-bangers but you need the extra 2 cylinders to make anything useful.

My vote is for the Volvo 5 Cylinder White block engines. Turbocharged is a big plus, not to mention the unique sexy sound of the 5 cylinder purr...

the best motor is going to be decided on what the purpose is.
