Yeah. I thought the actual memory chips in all USB drives come from pretty much the same manufacturer. So buying the cheapest one shouldn't make a difference.
Personally, I have a 1 GB PNY usb drive for like 4 years now and it's been thrown around and abused and it still works great.

Go to slickdeals.net and search for flash drives in the hot deals section of the forum. You'll find good deals and people usually write their experiences about it.

yep. they're all the same --- same OEM, rebranded under different names. as long as you get a brand one and not a knockoff, then you'll be set!
i got a kingston 512mb which i got like 2 or 3 years back for $15CAN. its relatively small when you compare to the newer ones, but its been working fine for me!

i have a 512MB SanDisk cruzer and a 1GB SanDisk microcruzer retractable one.
i've had my 512 for 4 years. still doing good for me.
i don't like how the new sandisk ones have the U3 software thing on them.
i find it annoying especially on a mac.

You can uninstall it. Just google U3 uninstall. It should be the first link.

I think they all work the same, but what you'd wanna look for are the best deals for more space (more gigs/mb). :]

hm....i never had one..so i wouldn't know...i just thought they were different because of the amount of memory that can be stored...but i guess the more space the better?
i'm supposed to buy one...but i said forget about that
because my creative zen has a removable disk so that's better for me..

Stick to generics. I don't see any difference in performance or anything.
Just find one for more memory:price ratio.

Kingston's a big brand?
Woa, I bought a Kingston USB and I thought it was some cheapo brand since my friends would usually make fun of it T_T
