sooo I'm a junior right now, & my sister is graduating from high school this June!
I've been saving up money and so far I have about $220ish... by about May I'll probably have about $300. I think. >< haha
sooo I'm thinking of what I should buy her, and I think I'll probably get her an iPod... she had an iRiver H10 which was a complete FAILURE, I'm sorry to say. after getting sort of ripped off w/the H10 she doesn't trust mp3 players much, and just uses her laptop.
but now that she's graduating I wanna get her something special (: and an ipod is something she's never had.
our family isn't really an Apple fan... I had two mp3 players myself, my 1st mp3 was an iRiver and my 2nd one (current mp3 player) is an iAudio x5L, which I ADORE.
so I have kinda high expectations of the product I'm buying for my sister.
should I buy...
1. old ipod nano
2. new ipod nano (w/the video)
3. ipod touch (sort of out of my budget though.)
4. ipod video
hm? please, Apple experts, give me some advice!! (: and which storage capacity would be best, do you think?...
I was thinking the new ipod nano, but... I read the reviews in the other thread on soompi and it seems like people prefer the old nano? dunno.
thank you so much!

Why do you have to get her an iPod? Just because iriver H10 didn't work out doesn't mean all iriver mp3 players are poopy (I used the H10 too and it was disastrous for me as well). Maybe she'd like the Cowon D2 (it's from iaudio)... If I were you I'd get her the iriver e100 that just came out - it's a thing of beauty (it's a bit like the H10 except upgraded twice: H10 -> E10 -> E100).
If you have to get her an iPod, the iPod Touch is pretty good but it gets old fast (the screen is really nice though).

Unless she only listens to music with English titles, I wouldn't recommend the Zune at all. There are hacks for it if you want to do it.
I would recommend some other player than an iPod. There's Cowon D2(already mentioned), Samsung P2, T10, Creative ZEN, and etc.
In order for us to help you more, try to find out how much space she needs and if she cares for any specs other than playing music. It'll help us narrow down the players to recommend.

1. She listens to english/korean/japanese music
2. I'm thinking anywhere from 5-8 gbs are good for her?... 8 gb would be playing it safe. She doesn't have a HUGE collection of songs... just... enough. haha
3. she watches videos but I'm not sure she'd watch them when it's on an ipod >< the screen is smaller.
I think she would look for a pretty design, sturdiness of the player, easy song uploading (from the 3 hour nightmares we had w/the h10 trying to put in 5 songs. haha), easy controls, etc.
sound quality and the various "features" aren't that high on the list, though it is considered. photos/videos, fm radio, and such would be nice, but it's ok if they're not there, too...
yeah. sorry. I don't know TOO much, just b/c I'm trying to make this a surprise gift xD

A Samsung P2 would be a good choice. I have this player so I know from experience.
Also, check out the Samsung T10, iRiver Clix2, and Creative ZEN. All of them have a great design, great sound quality(besides the ZEN I believe, but I'm not 100% sure since it's been a long time I've read about the player), and easy controls. Although, the T10 uses touch sensitivity, but it should be easy to get used to.
Try to check out the players at your local electronic store and see it for yourself, that's the best way of deciding which one you think will be best fit for your sister.

I bought couple irivers (T60, x20, clix2) lately, all of them perform very well
Another vote on the new E100, the player is good and the price is ok too.
The H10 should be the worst iRiver so far! Forget it!

really? im pretty sure the zen has good sound quality, not too much worse than iRiver and MUCH better than iPod and Samsung. I dont know how you could think the T10 has good sound quality. The dude at the Samsung store was happily telling us how bad samsung players are. I think its a shame coz they look so nice...Anyways, id say Clix2, D2, or Zen
