so FINALLY i've decided to buy a CIVIC SI..UNTIL~!!! i saw this...so i just wanted to say this to 8th gen civic SI owners that if you're having this problem, trying to change MTF, because apparently a lot of "popping" of 3rd stopped.

it's weird that even edmunds.com mentioned this too....8/10 SI were having that problem ph34r.gif ph34r.gif ph34r.gif

there's a petition on the web somewhere to get honda to fix the problem. The Si's are not the only problem with 3rd gear popping out, the 7th gen accord have the same problem.

No kidding. That is bad news for Honda. I hope they recall the cars involved. I would be pissed if they didn't fix it.

i have 8th gen si and never had that problem
kuku
Even I had the problem on my Integ.

It's not a big deal since nothing much happens.

how is it not a big deal, when eventually the third gear just stops engaging? i think it is, because for some people the third gear stopped working after a little less than 10k miles yikes..i would be pissed tears.gif tears.gif ph34r.gif ph34r.gif tears.gif tongue2.gif but im gonna buy it anyways since it mostly applies for 06-07 models r having that problem

isnt it because the si uses the same engine and tranny as the rsx and the rsx had the same problem too?

If they had the same engine... why dont they have the same engine code: k20a2/k20z1(rsx-s) vs K20z3 (civic si)? Why does K-Pro (ems) work on the rsx-s and not with the civic si?

If they had the same transmission... why does the tranny in the civic si have a lsd and the rsx-s doesnt?

So no... the rsx never had that same problem.

I swapped MT fluid when I got my oil change and it was all good.

found this on another site

"Honda has announced a transmission fix for the 06 - 07 Civic SI (and any other Honda 6-speed that qualifies for the fix). The announcement is on their official service bulletin. Any Honda dealership should be able to draw it up to see for themselves. If the service manager still fails to figure out that this is a Honda recognized, kindly ask him to contact someone at Honda Motor Corp about it and they SHOULD be able to inform him about the fix through the phone."
