Full Version: Do You Still Feel Like You're Stuck In Your Teens?
soompi forums > soompi world > the real world (20+ ONLY)
chocodotty
I've been thinking about this a lot lately. I'm 25 but I feel like I have tastes of a teenager. For example, I sometimes still shop at the junior department of a department store or I still love Hello Kitty and Sanrio stuff. Also, I'm still obsessed with the whole cutesy image like things that're pink, or glittery objects. Of course, I think emotionally I've matured but my physical appearance and some of the things I like is still very teenybopper-ish. I'm just wondering if there are any other 20+ people out there who are still like that and how? I hope I'm not the only one....

^ your not the only one.

I know a person who's in her 20's and is a pink and hello kitty fanatic. If you go in her room you'd think it's a elementary kids room. It's a good thing sorta, it's easy to guess what you would want for a gift.

Isn't chocodotty from sanrio?
chocodotty
No, Chococat is from Sanrio...I just changed it to Chocodotty to sound like my real name. My friends don't classify me as a Sanrio fanatic, but they just say I'm too girly (i.e. the pink, frilly skirts, the constant squealing) . I really don't know if thats a good thing or a bad thing......prolly a bad thing when you're 25.

I'm not stuck in my teens the way you are. I think my case is a little more depressing. I'm still super dependent on my parents, I still feel like I have no street smarts, and I'm still... jobless. hahah -__- I'd rather be stuck in my teens in terms of my interests. Let's trade hahah

Depends on the country. In Dae Han Min Guk you'd fit right in.
HERMIT
Nah, I'm actually feeling like I'm still stuck in my early 30s. That's the mentality of two teenagers .. I guess if you want to look at it that way.
Sailor Moon
Yup! I'm 24 and I love Hello Kitty, Sanrio and other cute stuff ^^

Pink is my fav. color, and I like colorful childish accessories.

Awwwww, don't worry about it. I think you just need to talk to your parents about allowing you to do some things that can teach you independence. Not too long ago, I was like that too...I was super dependent on my parents all through undergrad school and grad school and then last year, my parents sat down and had a talk with me on how I needed to depend on myself (since I'm an only child). Before, they paid for my cell phone bills, gave me allowance, cooked for me, while I just went to school everyday. Now gradually, I'm learning how to cook, clean and do all the house chores since I unfortunately live home for the time being. But trust me, it takes time and don't worry about it.

Unless something terrible or nightmarish happens to you to change you drastically, you are still you (or you with some extra things--which most people who get to be an adult have, including worries/problems >< and responsibilities). A lot of people don't realize that you're pretty much the same basic person you were in your teens, even if you're 60 or 70 or 80 or 90+. You don't automatically turn off who you are when you reach whatever age. And chocodotty--have you seen some of the BLING (it could get Batman's attention) Sanrio makes? These things are not for little girls--they're for older girls. Disney has done the same thing for years (including making many things in adult sizes). Miyazaki Hayao said he made Howl's Moving Castle for '60 year-old girls'. We're supposed to be more mature (by this I mean acting the right way in certain situations as we get older--and learning how to handle things a better way, etc), but other than that--mostly of us are just about the same as we always were. I don't feel any different than I did when I was a teen--and I've been told I haven't changed much. Some of the friends I've had since jr high have actually told me it's a relief to them.

you can see some threads related to that in here, too-- there's a cartoon thread, and one about liking stuffed toys and Sanrio and other cute things when you're not a kid anymore. You'll see you're not the only one. happy.gif

I'm actually going to buy my first Totoro--something I've wanted since the movie came out.

try not to be depressed >< you're far from alone there. Things will work out for you eventually. I don't know how you get 'street smarts', other than just common sense, which I'm sure you have ^^ If people are supposed to be street smart from experience--I can say it doesn't always work that way. My sister is two years younger than me(we're in our early 40's), and a lot of things have happened to her [[that should have given her some street smarts]]--but she's still way more naive and trusting than I am...and I haven't had the same bad experiences.
