If you have heard about Ritzer, he has quite alot to say in his books, but my textbook is custom published so getting a copy will be tough >_<

basically Globalization is "the spread of worlwide practices, relations, consciousness, and organization of social life"

the best piece you can write in your essay about the sociology of globalisation would be to elaborate on cultural theory... cultural theory has 3 paradigms within it so basically you can provide good examples and also understand more about the sociology of globalisation.
