the doctor just prescribed me with these topical formulas. i was wondering have any of you tried these and did it work for you? if you dont mind me asking...how bad was your acne and how long did it take to get rid of it if it worked with these products.
thanks in advance. i dont want to waste my time on these if they dont work.

I got my mate some spot treatment that contained benzoyl peroxide when he had acne mechanica, which was area the the shoulders, upper arm, back due to dirty clothes as he goes goes mountain biking and usually just end up with a muddy top that's full of pathogens going into his sweaty open pores.
If your spots are cause by hygiene problem use the benzoyl peroxide, they won't affect spots that are caused by hormones though, the natural antiseptic from tea tree oil is better in my opinion as I got my mate to try that to get aswell and it worked. If your spots are cause by hormones, if you wash your face atleast twice a day without touching the face much then it's probally a hormones problem, I'll suggest you use evening primrose oil for hormone control and balance.

i know someone who took medication with benzyl peroxide, it really improved his acne, from uber bad skin to normal skin, after like 6 months.
as for me, i once took this facewash with benzyl p in it and it did nothing, but then my skin was never that horrible to begin with.

OMG!
i posted a topic over this like 2 years ago i think.
Well, anyways, it works FORREALZ!!!!
It may dry out your skin so apply some no fragrance lotion with like some vitamins on it.
About benzol peroxide it lightens your skin and if it gets on your clothes it WILL bleach it.
Retin-A it makes your face SUPER red if you have sensitive skin, but it is all worth it.

Retin-A did nothing for me... and it was DANG EXPENSIVE.
I've been using proactiv, which seems to be working better.
Breaking out a little again lately, though ><

i tried proactiv a few years ago and it didnt do anything for me. i think it was a waste of money. i also tried taking erythomycin pills too and it worked in the beginning but i guess my body got immune to that so it doesnt work anymore. now i have to try these...hopefully it not all for nothign..
thanks for the inputs ppl

For ance-products like Proactive, I heard you need to switch it
every few months because your body will familiarize itself with it
and it'll stop working.

EDIT: By switching, I mean a new brand.
I don't want somebody to waste money on buying a new proactive
since it's so expensive! ><;

Everyone reacts differently with BP, it wouldn't hurt for you to try it. Remember to try it out on one small part of your face to see if you're allergic to it(ie. blotchy, extremely red even after the BP has settled in, chemical burns, etc). Most people that use BP religiously and use the correct amount(small amount at first, then rack up the amount you put on when you've felt like your skin has adapted to the BP and is ready for higher) will end up clearing their acne(unless it is hormonal, like said earlier). What % of BP are you being prescribed? I would suggest 2.5% as it has given most people good results. 5% and 10% BP is kind of harsh on the skin, but if your skin can handle it, by all means.
Definitely follow BP up with a good non-comedogenic and oil-free(unless it's jojoba oil) moisturizer. If you can't take the dryness from the BP, you may choose to use moisturizer first before putting on BP, this will just give BP another layer to go through to get into your skin though.

i used a topical cream with BP and only... 2.5% i think.
for the first few months it was ok, then i started to develop a reaction?
whenever i put it on it made my skin really itchy and it would turn red and stay red for a day (even if i didnt touch it)
so i just threw it out.
i didnt have acne but i had a lot of small annoying bumps on my forehead.
BP didnt really do much for them either

currently im using Duac for the morning and Retin-a-micro for the night and i take Doxycycline tabets 1 for 2 times a day breakfast & dinner and at first ur face gets the burning feeling and skin peeling but thats the indication that its working. Anyways its been 2 weeks since i went to the dermatologist and my results are simply amazing. I do recommend taking the tablets with the treatments you will see better results. Hope this helped
