Do you know Mixi? that's the huge SNS in Japan. The system is a perfect registration system. You are not able to be a member unless introduced by somebody, so it is safe since things would be censored. It is useful to make friends and gather information in Japan. Does anybody have an account? Do you enjoy using it? Did you get many friends there? Did you encounter any problem there? Please share your thoughts and experiences.

It sounds pretty interesting! Unfortunately i do not have an account! Sounds fun though. Id also like to know about this.

MIXI is name of the forum, social networking service. The community just like soompi where the member registration system is more strict than this forum. Probably the name MIXI is not popular in the world whereas it is so so so well-known in Japan that almost 90% of ? young people are registered....

Mixi? I'm not surprised that it seems not many people know (probably because it seems just slightly out of place,
afterall, this is a korean-centered forum, but I know what that is. )

I have a few friends and get updates regularly about japanese friends who've updated their daily journals and things
like that. I don't keep up on it, but it is interesting to see and get to know different people there.

For anyone who has a Facebook, Mixi reminds of that. I'm just too busy a student to keep up with either.
(facebook and Mixi). I really should keep up...

I have mixi =] well I have like 2-3 friends that comment on my journal whenever I write about it.
But I became close to one of my other friends and we skyped together and such^^
It's fun actually, I get to type japanese and communicate with people in Japan or other places and I love reading the news on the sidexD

I think one thing I hated was someone added me because I was mixed or I wrote in English. And well sometimes you get weird messages and I got a freaking weird message recently
by some random Japanese person using VERY bad engrish and some Japanese words and bashing my intro page because I just deleted my whole intro.

But overall, I like it. Recently you can put picture albums to show your friends, music reviews, mixi videos and such...

I dont think that it is a warning, it has been up in the tech forum a while now.

OK about Mixi, as other people have described, it is the place to make friends and gather information and such. But the crucial thing is you need to know Japanese. Reading and typing skill is essential. Also about introducing one to another, you need to find somebody whom you know in mixi members. I'm sorry but I don't know you yet, so I can't be someone to give you an invitation now but if you cannot find anybody, I will find the way. (only if I had time...sorry if I can't come online this week anymore).

hangbok 2007, it would happen sometimes, I didn't know that. So far the people I met there are all decent and nice.

On the other day, I actually got one pm from unknown 20 yo girl who was a 風俗嬢。(a girl who works for a kind of prositute line), she said "I read your profile and found interesting. if you don't mind, pls be my friend. I am doing this prositution but I am an ordinary girl inside at heart". O_O"??? lol .....hummm...I thought it is honored to get this kind of pm but since she is openly saying about her profession, she even sounds as if she is unique of something......hummm...later she gave me pm about some another unknown business for inducement. it says "you need 0 capital fund and by doing this business, you'll gain 1 million yen in a few months...it's hard to believe...^^;

I usually check it 2 or 3 times a week
Mixi is a nice place to go unlike myspace
I use mixi to stay in touch with my friends in Osaka.
My Japanese has gotten better because of it too.
I'm also learning more Japanese and Korean from some
of the groups and people on there.

Luckily people don't message me and such as often as my other mixed friend. She has tons of friends on her friends list and all that.
But yeah the ones I have met aren't that bad, they were pretty reasonable.

Maxx, I'm glad to hear that! You have a friend in Osaka? and you've improved your language skill because of writing your blog there? that's a nice way to improve your Japanese skill! I agree with you. Unlike other forums, Mixi is a place where decent people gather. I sometimes want to practice some discussions there....maybe one day I will create one discussion community (in English if possible) by myself because I am now enthusiastically joining a dabate group in one uni, (I am already working but as a guest, I am joining there), so I need some training to have discussions in English. So when I would create one, can I invite you? ^^
