Hello all:

So I have really, really bad allergies (dust, seasonal, environmental), and right now it is very bad ie sore throat, runny nose, sneezing to infinity, watery eyes, fatigue. For me when I get an allergy attack it is like having a cold/flue but way more sucky. So my Doc is like use Claritin and everyone always says to use it but it doesn't seem to do ANYTHING for me. I am in Tucson, AZ and since it is getting to be summer again these allergies are reaking havoc on my life.

Does anyone else have no results with Claritin?
If so what do you use instead?
Are there any remodies for allergies that are not medication?

I need help, because I feel worse than crap these days and it really really really stinks!!:(

Any help is VERY MUCH APPRECIATED!!

Blah, I used to get HORRIBLE itchy/watery eyes, stuffy nose, and fatigueness.

I used to use Clartin and it worked okay.

Now my family buys Reactine (Extra Strength 24 hour) and it works really well! (Though this might be because my allergies aren't as bad anymore...they seemed to have gone away in the past couple years ^^)

Good luck!

Go to your doctor and ask him/her if there is anything that can be prescribed?

I take a double dose of claritin/loratadine to control my allergies ON A DAILY BASIS. Sometimes even 3x. It helps, usually, except for the really bad attacks. But everything shows up on my skin, as opposed to it being respiratory/etc effect--so the effects may also be different for you?

claritin is over the counter now right? so you probably just need something stronger. ask your doctor to prescribe something for you. hope you feel better soon!

same! god i hate this time of the year
my eyes itch like a pinkberry!!!!!!!!!!!!!

claritin works okay, it's kinda pricey
if i really feel like taking allergy medication
i usually take a generic brand
it helps alittle

but i kinda don't wanna depend on medication so i just go on with my day with my glasses and watery eyes and runny nose Y_Y

Claritin doesn't work that well for me but Zyrtec does.

Like esayel mentioned earlier, you can double up on your dose. If it still doesn't help, you'll have to switch to another brand. That's what I do when my body gets used to one brand. Claritin & Zyrtec are both available over the counter. I personally like Zyrtec. The only other brand I know that can still be prescribed is Allegra.. (not Singulair since there's some suicidal investigation going on right now). unsure.gif Your doctor should give you samples so you can see which one works best. If your insurance covers it, maybe consider getting allergy injections... for me, that really really helped in the long run. sweatingbullets.gif
