^I don't see how you can afford the internet and not be able to afford this $12.00/mo game unless you are in fact using free dial-up but wouldn't that just help you with playing the actual populated game? Oh well, whatever floats your boat.

I played before on various official RO servers but I grew out of MMORPGs.

the online game is superb but the anime of it is boring

I used to play on private servers... got kinda boring after awhile.

international students (especially uni) don't have tons of pocket money and i'd rather spend the 12 bucks on food. lol.

What ever works. I used to play Private servers too, hell I actually did play aeRO for like two weeks. Private servers are fine, but it leaves alot to be desired since the general population of private servers contain people who cannot speak english, general KSers, people who just don't give a care about the other people who are playing, and scammers. But that's just the more populated extremely high rate private servers. Then you'll usually have to deal with a private server with a population lower than 100, barely any support and interaction from other players, and the high chance of the server shutting down due to lack of interest. Yes, there are some great servers out there, but a majority of them can't compete with the experience I've had with iRO.

I don't care what people say about Gravity and its GMs, they're actually doing alot better than some of the private server owners and admins. In order to keep servers up a good chunk of private servers ask for donations and in return you recieve a special donation gift, usually something that you cannot aquire regularly, but most of the time its a really overly powered items that create more unbalance between players.

Yes, there is some uniqueness also involved in private servers, but quite honestly, there's more bad than good in them.

And will missing a meal (from what I understand, its 12 dollars for one meal for you). Gonna kill you?
I'm pretty sure there's foods out there that you can pay 3 dollars for and it will last a couple days.

i agree that private server people can be a bit @(*&)(*%@$ especially in high rate servers, but i've got friends who play there, so i find it more or less tolerable.

I'm currently a part-time employee and a full-time medical student. I live on my own as well.

I think I left behind about 11 million zeny without including accessories and weapons, etc. All manual labor too. One day I'll go back and give'em to a real n00b.

I remember my n00b days... I asked for help on playing the game and I kept getting zeny donations. That frustrated me because I wanted to understand the game, not given money. Not that many nice people anymore

I had a Blacksmith named Ocean on Loki. I deleted and recreated him as a Hunter. Was a guild leader for awhile and also the 3rd blacksmith on loki (after riffy and raspberry). You might know Riffy as the basic godfather of blacksmith's. I still have funny memories of 30+ people inside Geffen emoting while I fired away at making Iron out of ore and getting spammed with msg's about what the heck I was doing.

I stopped playing private servers, I think I posted a rant about why earlier in this topic.
But in general, private servers are a unstable, unreliable, a really bad community compared to iRO, even if the server rates are "low" they are too high compared to officials servers which provide no challenge. Most are corrupted because in order to keep the server up the owner's ask for Donations where you in return you recieve donation items. The donation items are usually more expensive than buying a year long subscription to iRO.

Whats the link to dl aeRO now? I used to play iRO and aeRO a long time ago. I had a lvl138 Sin Cross lol..woo fun as hell on private servers. (til the 3rd wipe or so i gave up on aeRO)

I kinda stopped playing after a while. But just recently I've been browing around the iRO site and the alchemist finally have their homonculus skills working. And also, on the korean site, there are new classes that look pretty cool, like the gunslinger. Now I'm interested in playing again.

Haha I used to play it, like a year ago. I was so addicted to it once... But that was before I started dying all the time. I played on a private server (forgot the name though). Didn't like it very much.
I like being a Mage<3 Healing people and such. I've only been a mage and a swordman :x

Not all private servers are bad. :O One that I GMed on, Divinia RO, is a lot better than all of the servers (minus officials) that I've played on before. It's stable and really updated. :P

the highest i ever got is 90 sin-x on a 5x server. i love alchies and rogues now.
i guess i quit RO. i wanna play RO2 though.

and yeah, i agree private servers are sorta worse than official RO. but the higher rates can be fun. WoE is messed up because of the population. everybody joins only the top guilds, which get to have +6 people each guild expansion level.
on diviniaRO, ShiiN's trying to fix this imbalance i think. imo it's a great server.

I liked SpeedRO long time ago. It was corrupt, but then it was funny to see a Priest haul Assasin behind in the PvP arenas... I had a High Priest that could compare with a Lord Knight or something with just beating people with a golden mace.
