Brawlers! I bet you all are duking it out in [b]Super Smash Bros. Brawl right now With Friends/Random online as well as offline, unlocking all the characters, collecting trophies, stickers, music tracks, and uploading your own custom stages, screenshots, and video footage to your buddies.

If anyone would like to join, I've set up a public chat on Skype where Brawlers can trade codes and run battles with voice chats. You can download Skype at www.skype.com whether it is via your PSP, Laptop/PC, Internet Tablet, or any mobile device, and just add my Skypename: rothsothy

Or just simply enter in the following URL: http://www.skype.com/go/joinpublicchat?sky...AG83ncyp8Ogrv3n

Josh from WiiFolder.com has uploaded a footage of the new 'Terebi no Tomo' Channel, better known as the 'TV Friend' or TV Guide Channel which is now released for the Japanese Wii, in action.

YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QIFkVISJbAE

Basically, you can watch stations providing users with an Electronic Program Guide (EPG) that updates over the internet from Japan's G-Guide service where you search by genre or keyword, then bookmark them as favorite.
- can also share with Friend or other users of the console
- Alert/Notifications sends email / SMS / or posts a message on the Wii's Message Board to notify when a user-scheduled program is about to run 30min prior to.
- The Wii Remote is obviously used as the semi-universal remote to change channels, adjust volume, and switch between the Wii and TV inputs
- a female voice that guides you through the IR calibration process via the Wiimote speaker

Reports states a small percentage of gamers are having the same issues running Super Smash Bros. Brawl on their Nintendo Wii consoles within hours of the game's North American release just like what happened to a few gamers in Japan.

"Super Smash Bros. Brawl utilizes a double-layer disc which has a large memory capacity. A very small percentage of Wii consoles may have trouble consistently reading data off this large capacity disc if there is some contamination on the lens of the disc drive. Nintendo has specialized cleaning equipment that can resolve this problem. (Please do NOT attempt to clean the lens yourself, as you may damage the system.)"

Gamers who are in trouble can fill out a request for repair form on the following link and be sent a specialized cleaning unit to remedy this issue. Beyond this, no other means of repair have been outlined.

Customer Service and Repair page: http://www.nintendo.com/consumer/repair/re...orm_us_ssbb.jsp

Surely, this might not be due to people having their modchipped consoles? Who knows. But some have found solutions by deleting the data file from the Wii's memory and creating a new one, warning that it may delete all process of the saved game.

-----------------
Well, I'm off to Brawl. You guys can come join our chat on Skype if you like.
I might be adding more to the news later in the week if I'm not too busy.

The Commodore 64 (C-64) joins the family in our Virtual Console systems. Adding to the already extensive VC library NES, SNES, N64, Mega Drive, PC Engine, Neo Geo, Master System and Game Gear, making Nintendo’s service a comprehensive window into the dusty annals of gaming history. International Karate and Uridium are among the first titles to be available, but with such a healthy back catalogue expect more to follow shortly.

Classics on the Commodore 64 include Geoff Crammond's Sentinel, Head Over Heels and Jeff Minter's Attack of the Mutant Camels.

Initially only available on the European Wii Shop Channel, the games will cost 500 Wii points each (£3.50). While most of this generation's experience of the 1980's powerhouse will be limited to a parody of its loading screen propping up the front-end of Vice City, Commodore's console was at the forefront of 8-bit gaming and is the single best selling personal computer unit of all time.

I'll be adding more posts later in the week including updates from the GDC (Game Developers Conference) 2008 in San Francisco.
I have to finish my painting for Art class which is due tomorrow!

As some of you may know, there are already huge Super Smash Bros. Brawl tournaments all over the States right now.
Nintendo and Best Buy team up to crown a national champion.

Attention all Smash fans: Put up your dukes! Just before the launch of the much-anticipated Super Smash Bros. Brawl, Mario and friends are hosting four regional Wii tournaments. The competitions will visit Los Angeles, San Francisco, Boston and finally New York for a Midnight Madness Launch event at the Best Buy store at 622 Broadway in New York. All of the 256 participants at each location will receive a $10 Best Buy gift card. One lucky grand prize winner will receive a custom-designed, crystal-covered Wii, a home theater system from Best Buy and other prizes.

"Super Smash Bros. is one of the world's most popular game franchises
because it draws in characters from across the Nintendo universe and beyond
for some all-out fighting fun," said Cammie Dunaway, Nintendo of America's
executive vice president of sales & marketing. "Super Smash Bros. Brawl has
extreme appeal among our core audience, but these tournaments are a great way
to get new fans involved as well -- before the game is even available in
stores."

Each regional tournament will provide the first 256 people in attendance
the chance to "brawl" one-on-one with other contestants in a
single-elimination tournament to determine a winner in each market. Regional
winners will face off in a final multiplayer "brawl" at the New York City
tournament.

The grand prize winner will receive a crystal-coated Wii with a design
from Super Smash Bros. Brawl, a home theater system from Best Buy and a copy
of the game. The second-place finisher will receive one Wii system and Wii
Remote, one copy of Super Smash Bros. Brawl and a $1,000 Best Buy gift card.
The third-place finisher will receive a Wii and Wii Remote, a copy of the game
and a $500 Best Buy gift card. The fourth-place finisher will receive a Wii,
an extra Wii Remote, a copy of the game and a $250 Best Buy gift card. For
more information about the tournaments, visit Nintendo.com.

The tournaments will take place at the following times and locations:

Super Smash Bros. Brawl features dozens of Nintendo characters, from Mario
to Link to Pikachu, as well as new characters like Solid Snake, a
gritty soldier from Konami's hugely popular Metal Gear series, and Sonic The
Hedgehog. The combat-filled game lets characters of all kinds brawl until only
one is left standing. Its predecessor, Super Smash Bros. Melee, was the
best-selling game of all time for Nintendo GameCube. Super Smash Bros.
Brawl has more characters, more features and more action-packed fun. What's
more, Super Smash Bros. Brawl uses Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection, which allows
up to four players to simultaneously brawl no matter where they are based. For
a complete list of characters and features, visit http://www.SmashBros.com.

Yeah, I've been thinking about limiting the number of photos also so that the page would load up faster for others to read.

Today's release on the Wii Shop's Virtual Console is..

1080 SNOWBOARDING
N64
1-2 players
Rated E for Everyone
1,000 Wii Points
Wiki: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1080_Snowboarding

------------
According to Japanese publication IT Media, games from the SEGA Master System will soon become available on Virtual Console.

Fantasy Zone and Fist Of The North Star - priced at 500 and 600 Wii Points, respectively - will lead the February debut of Master System in Japan. It is unknown when other territories will begin distributing Master System games and at what cost.

The Master System first appeared in 1986 as a direct competitor to the Nintendo Entertainment System. Despite garnering mixed global success, the console gave rise to the SEGA Genesis and SEGA Game Gear, as well as franchises like Ys and Alex Kidd.

-----------
Super Smash DOJO!! updates us with the following.

Pokemon: Manapy

Stage: Mushroomy Kingdom

Super Mario Bros.: Ground Theme

Game Mode: Masterpieces (VC Demos)

Designer Masahiro Sakurai announced that Super Smash Bros. Brawl will offer a variety of game demonstrations based on Virtual Console titles. The downloads will come on the disc and therefore not require an online connection to play.

The original Super Mario Bros., Ice Climber, The Legend of Zelda, Kid Icarus, Kirby's Adventure, Super Metroid, Star Fox 64 and other unnamed games will be playable. All of the announced games, except Super Metroid and Star Fox 64 (third and second installments, respectively), are the original appearances of each hero or heroine. Some titles reach back to the original Nintendo Entertainment System's console release in 1985.

Some games, like Super Metroid, will have pre-designed saved data for players looking to experience a major boss battle. All available demonstrations will expire after a set period of time. Sakurai mentioned, however, that the full game can be purchased from the Wii Shop Channel should the demo incline players towards that decision.

Release dates: Jan. 31st [Japan]; Mar. 9th [North America]

Guitar Hero III [Wii] owners! For those of you who haven't seen this yet or those who do not want to call in to have their replacement disc mailed, you can visit the Activision disc replacement website.

Here's what Activision says will happen:
"Once the replacement discs are available, the replacement program will begin. We will send you a disc replacement package which will consist of exchange instructions, a replacement disc claim form, and a postage paid envelope for you to return your current copy of the Wii version of Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock. Once you receive your package, please complete the claim form and return your original game as directed. Once we receive your game, we will mail you the free replacement disc."

Just fill out the form at the following link to take part in the replacement disc program.
http://www.activisiongameexchange.com/

kpd, that's a good question that might've been asked at the Activision website's FAQs. I'm sure DLC is a given for sometime in 2008 as they mentioned months back. No matter which version of the disc, both should auto update when you load up the game at the time they release the content which may probably be on WiiWare.

Shin'en Multimedia, a game creator and leading audio producer for Nintendo platforms, has announced plans to lend the company's audio outsourcing services to WiiWare developers.

The aural experts at Shin'en Multimedia will create and offer custom data solutions for WiiWare titles. Shin'en expects original sequenced soundtracks to use only a fraction of the resources normally required for streamed audio. The studio did not say when these tools will become available or for what price.

Founded in 1999, Shin'en Multimedia has provided audio middleware and soundtracks for nearly 200 games. Their official Web site provides further information about their services.

The Wii has been released since November 17, 2007.

Release date/Price: November 19, 2006 at $249.99 dollars

QUOTE
The Americas will lead the worldwide launch on Nov. 19. Wii will be sold as an affordable, mass-consumer product at an MSRP of just $249.99. The price includes one wireless Wii Remote controller, one Nunchuk™ controller and the groundbreaking collection of five different Wii Sports games on one disc, which anyone can play using simple movements, experienced or not.

Every Wii console includes another distinctive feature: a series of on-screen “channels” that make up the Wii Channel Menu, which makes the console approachable and customizable for everyone, from the most avid gamer to people who have never played before. The Wii Channel Menu is the starting point for all of the console’s functions. The “channels” offer a gateway to a rich variety of entertainment options. When connected to a TV, the Wii Channel Menu offers a simple interface, letting users pick games to play, get news or weather, view and send photos or even create playable caricatures of themselves to use in actual games. Additional functions allow users to redeem Wii Points and download classic games to Wii’s Virtual Console™. The variety of options available through the Wii Channel Menu motivates both gamers and non-gamers to turn on Wii’s power every day.

Wii is creating worldwide excitement with its unique control system, an inventive, first-of-its-kind controller whose position can be detected in a 3-D space. The new controller allows users to pinpoint targets in games or move through the Wii Channel Menu with precision and ease. This intuitive control system will be understood immediately by everyone, regardless of their previous experience with video games. With this one small controller, Wii makes games both easier and more intense than anything previously experienced. For example, in the Wii Sports tennis game, players swing the Wii Remote like a racket to hit the ball, as in real life. They can add topspin or slice the ball just by angling their hands and wrist like they would in a real match.

“Wii reinvents games for the devoted player,” says Nintendo of America President Reggie Fils-Aime. “But more importantly, Wii breaks the wall separating players from non-players by delivering the best game experiences for the most affordable price. We believe the next leap is games for the masses – young and old, gamer or non, alone, with a friend or with the whole family.”

Fils-Aime made his remarks in New York, shortly after Nintendo executives in Japan announced Wii will launch there on Dec. 2.

Between launch day and Dec. 31, Wii owners will enjoy a robust lineup of 30 software titles, with selections for everyone from video game veterans to newcomers. Some top Nintendo launch titles include Wii Sports, a compilation of tennis, baseball, golf, bowling and boxing; The Legend of Zelda®: Twilight Princess; and EXCITE TRUCK™. While publishers are free to set their own prices for games, first-party Nintendo titles will have an MSRP of $49.99. Wii’s self-loading media bay also can play the entire library of more than 530 Nintendo GameCube™ titles from day one.

Third-party developers around the world have lined up to provide unprecedented support for Wii.

“I believe the Wii will attract new and casual gamers to the world of interactive entertainment,” says Larry Probst, Chairman and CEO, Electronic Arts. “It’s a fun, easy and economical system that will become a bridge to gaming for mainstream audiences. At EA, we are putting more support behind the Wii than any Nintendo hardware launch since the Super NES.”

“The Wii is changing audience interaction, opening up whole new experiences that have never been possible in video games,” says Robert Kotick, Chairman and CEO, Activision, Inc. “With the instinctual control of the Wii Remote, Nintendo is advancing the gaming experience to the broadest audience of gamers. Activision is excited about the launch of the Wii and the opportunity it offers. So much so, we plan to have five titles available at launch – our strongest lineup ever for a new console. We have more development resources devoted to the Wii than to any previous Nintendo platform. The Wii is likely to have a profound impact on the size, growth and overall opportunities for the video game market.”

“The Wii control scheme opens up unexplored areas for our talented teams to innovate when creating games,” says Laurent DeToc, President of Ubisoft North America. “It’s invigorating for us. We believe that it will help create a new level of interest in video games and engage more players around the world.”

Additional information about the list of Virtual Console games and the pricing structure will be revealed in the coming weeks. For the latest details, please visit the official website at Wii.com.

I still find the controller's unique 'converter-like' shape quite amusing and I hope this system will do well on the market biggrin.gif

trauma center for the revolution huh...that's gonna feel weird compared to the DS touch screen haha.
theonecalledy2ckt
I'm so getting one. And the uniqueness of the ways to play should make this system orgasmic to play.
narcotix
revolution will sell , due to it having a low price compared to ps3, and xbox360
1SwtDeception
Revolution should sell well.. and should do well in performances too. I don't think we hear too much of Nintendo disfunctioning -- only shortages ;]. But I can't wait to play this! The idea of Super Smash Brothers online or Mario Kart online in a whole kind of different style. Of course Mario Kart: DS has its unique way of playing and I heavily enjoy it.

Trauma Center, I think, will be great as well =D.. I want to say there probably will be a DS-Rev connection, but that's almost pointless if you have the game already. I hope Atlus develops more games for the Rev *cough* some RPGs *cough*.

It should sell well initially because of low prices then it should be the experience of it. Seriously if you're just lazy to get up and slash your favorite enemies or move as they move to your movement.. why would you want to play.. isn't that some kind of dream for gamers? To get in the game and play.. and although graphics can visually put you into that.. how about gameplay? We want graphics as much as the next, but personally I think Nintendo is doing fine as they are in graphics. The specs aren't as high as Sony and M$ -- it doesn't have Final Fantasy or Halo, but Nintendo offers what most of us played as kids right ^^? The idea to get up or moving your wrist can be "tiring" I suppose, but it would eliminate that kind of "why aren't you getting exercise" kind of bs. With that said it could cause some troubles in just being too active =P.

We see now how the 360 is doing.. here is what Japan thinks of the next-gen consoles:

Famitsu conducted a survey with developers, dealers and consumers regarding to current and next-gen consoles.

Which next-generation console will you be most satisfied with in 2006?

Developers:
# PlayStation 3 - 53.7%
# Revolution - 41.4%
# Xbox 360 - 2.4%

Dealers:
# PlayStation 3 - 56.9%
# Revolution - 43.9%
# Xbox 360 - 1.7%

Consumers:
# PlayStation 3 - 46.3%
# Revolution - 43.9%
# Xbox 360 - 7.9%

Which console will be No. 1 in 2006?

Developers:
# Nintendo DS - 49.9%
# PlayStation 3 - 16.7%
# Revolution - 10.0%
# PSP - 5.0%
# Xbox 360 - 1.7%

Dealers:
# Nintendo DS - 38.3%
# PlayStation 3 - 31.5%
# Revolution - 12.3%
# PSP - 1.7%
# Xbox 360 - 1.7%

Consumers:
# PlayStation 3 - 40.3%
# Nintendo DS - 32.6%
# PlayStation 2 - 11.8%
# Revolution - 11.5%
# Xbox 360 - 2.5%
# PSP - 0.3%

What is the expected retail price of PlayStation 3?
# Developers: 40,000 yen (US$339) average
# Retailers: 40,000 yen (US$339) average
# Consumers: 50,000 yen (US$424) average

What is the expected retail price of Revolution?
# Developers: 20,000 yen (US$170) average
# Retailers: 25,000 yen (US$212) average
# Consumers: 30,000 yen (US$255) average

(thanks to Ikohn4ever on CAG)

Although PS3 would be in the lead for the survey.. how Revolution and PS3 are similar is pretty interesting.
It's funny when they show that:

Which console will be No. 1 in 2006?
Consumers:
# PlayStation 3 - 40.3%
# Nintendo DS - 32.6%
# PlayStation 2 - 11.8%
# Revolution - 11.5%
# Xbox 360 - 2.5%
# PSP - 0.3%

But I like how it includes the sellers and developers -- I think they have their own sense of reality.

the ps3 to me just seems like an excessive waste of 400-600 dollars. until i have a big-old high def tv, i don't need shaq sweat. besides, the only game that looks good to me on ps3 so far is like... MGS4, and i can't even stand playing that series. dry.gif

I think a lot of things tend to be a waste. But if you want a GAME to play .. a GAME system that plays GAMES I'd like that the most. Well HDTV.. someone buy it for me and I'll keep it. I don't think it's an ABSOLUTE necessity =]

I don't want to make this thread some kind of pre-next gen war, but I'm curious about PS3's pre-popularity.

But because Sony is going to come out with something for the next-gen does it neccessarily mean it would be as "great" as the PS2. I have to admit I thought the Gamecube was a little lacking in presentation and 3rd party supports, but because a system doesn't do well one generation won't always mean it will fail the next. Although it's hard to make that conclusion since Sony and M$ are "new" in the gaming business, but does quick conclusion that the Revolution is in last place from Sony and M$ is due to the lack of "insert mature genre here"? Is it because the Final Fantasy that "WOWED" America is capturing too much of the hype of fanboys/girls?

I mean Nintendo 64 is pretty great IMO then Playstation came out and received a good deal of recognition as well. See we know Nintendo has been doing so well before and just because it didn't do so well in one generation, doesn't mean it will "suck".

The 360 has a head start, but it doesn't appeal to all people. You can say they are probably doing well from its headstart, but you can only start and maintain it for a while. Although it's kind of irrevelant, but DS outsold the PS2 -- (I know you're dealing with a system that has been out for more years thant he DS and it's a handheld to a console -- http://biz.gamedaily.com/industry/feature/?id=11832), but even a product with a headstart can be behind.

So people want to pay $400-$600 dollars for that? Is it because people just want to follow the crowd since it's "cool" since it's so awed about that you want teh gr34t3st m4Chine AliVEEEEerrr!1111!1!!!? I remember the PS2 is like the middle man so that's why it was popular before, but hey Nippon Ichi said he might leave Sony and go with the Rev and 360.. still want the PS3? I mean what I'm pointing is games are the ideal of buying a game. If they moved to another system -- you'd move there too right?

But what I'm wondering is the pre-popularity of the PS3.. what is this based on? Is it the PS2's "greatness" or what and it will be PS3's successor? I can see some of the goodness.. but it makes me wonder why so much of it is into the PS3? Is it just the technology + ideal 3rd party support + boomerrang controller + grill-like system + HDness that is gunna Bl0w maI MINDDDDdddzzz!122??

Technology-wise since the PS3 is made with Blu-ray technology and is up to date with the HD stuff. I find you can get the real thing for better. On the forum board apparently from "Variety" magazine from a CAGer.. I don't remember (probabaly edit it later) how the PS3 is the "poor man Blu ray player".. reminds me of the Hummer and the Honda Element..(Element -- poor man Hummer). But wow personally I don't see a need for all of that -- new way for gameplay is fine with me =]

I'd probably get the PS3 for the thought of "I got most of the systems, I might as well get this one to complete it"-- except I don't own an Xbox or a 360 and won't plan on ever.
sHiNHaWk
Nippon Ichi saying that they might go to the 360 or Revolution gives me even more reason to stay away from the PS3 and go with the Revolution... I'm glad that they're thinking of leaving Sony... I fear if they stay with Sony for too long, they'll follow Working Designs to the graveyard.

That would be a pity =[ I liked Lunar Story. What I like is Nintendo is developing a new idea.. giving developers new ways to interact between the games and gamers. I'm hopeing it doesn't fail.. afterall Nintendo is presenting and giving well.. a sufficent amount of information about the Rev =] and they really haven't lacked that whenever new items comes out (think DS ;]). So it should be wise that Nippon Ichi is going towards the Rev.

Let's add a new addition to the list of possible 3rd party support shall we?

CAPCOM: http://www.cubed3.com/news/4701

Quick News: In Jeux-France's latest exclusive interview with Capcom, it is reiterated that Phoenix Wright's Producer Minae Matsukawa is interested in bringing games to the Revolution, just as she stated in Nintendo's UK Official Magazine last month. The chances of a sequel on the new system seem to be getting stronger and stronger.

http://www.gaming-age.com/news/2006/3/15-31
(read it all-- Thanks to daroga CAG )

"Hmmm....one word: boomerang."

"In addition to this information, a reliable source on Gaming Age Forums has revealed that you'll be able to use the new controller to aim the bow & arrow while riding the horse. This makes absolute sense since you'll be able to simply point and shoot with the new controller. Other uses, like the grappling hook, or sword fighting seem plausible as well. "

Revolution can handle Unreal Engine 3

Game developer Midway revealed in a job posting that they were looking for a designer for a next-gen first person shooter using the ultra powerful Unreal Engine 3. The game is being developed for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and...

...wait for it...

...wait for it...

...Nintendo's puny-wuny, wimpy, wittle Wevolution Revolution! Here's where the Nintendo fanboys cry out in unison, "Told you so! The RS will be just as powerful as anything else out there, except more so!" We understand that claims of the Revolution being 2-3 times as powerful as the Gamecube still means it'll be one powerful little box but let's keep things in perspective.

Middleware packages, especially ones like Unreal Engine 3 that have a large PC client base, are designed to be scalable. In other words, sure it will run on the Revolution, but don't expect it to have the eye candy turned up to 11.

That being said, this is promising news for any hopes of seeing games ported to all three next-gen consoles. Developers who use software like Epic's engine will not only save themselves from reinventing the graphics wheel every game, but they'll also find it easier to scale their app across all three next-gen platforms, making us happy gamers.

http://www.joystiq.com/2006/01/28/revoluti...nreal-engine-3/

It won't be least powerful as you'd think it to be =] or how the numbers put out.

I am looking forward to the release of the Revolution. I wonder what the true name of this new console will be. In my opinion, I like the name 'Revolution' as a codename. They should keep it as that for a name. I'm pretty sure this was the same case with GameCube. [shrugs]

I loveee the controller. I wonder how easy it will be to control it. It looks so interesting.

I was hoping that this would come out before September, but at around the holiday season is pretty good too. I think I shall ask my mom to buy this for me as gift. Whoooooo!

I am so excited!!!!
KAME
The revolution looks like alot of fun. I think it can and will outdo Xbox360. However, I really don't think the Revolution is the system for Nintendo that will put it at the top like back in the old days.

I'm not really sure about what the games on Revolution are going to have, but that's because nothing has really stood out yet since there isn't many previews of stuff. Maybe after this year's E3 I will change my mind. Thus far, the only reasons I want the Revolution is because of its interesting controller and being able to download alot of old games.

I'm a fanboy for more serious looking games (graphically and storyline) which is probably why I haven't been too interested in Revolution. I'd rather save that 300$ for PS3, and since I know my friend will buy the Revolution anyways. (He's a hardcore nintendo fan tongue.gif)

Also, 3 times the gamecube power is not much to praise about. That is still far behind the PS3, even the Xbox360.

I'm still looking forward to playing my friend's Revolution though. But not planning to buy one since PS3 will have so many titles that I favour =p

With that said it could cause some troubles in just being too active =P.

i don't see how people are complaining about this? when playing with standard, even wireless controllers, i still find myself moving my arms all over the place and i don't think the revmote would be that much different. i mean, who sits absolutely still, not moving their controller from their lap at all, when playing games unless you're a robot or are playing an extremely boring game?

also, even though revolution graphics are sub par to those of ps3 and 360, it's still twice as powerful as the gamecube, which means it'll produce current gen. xbox graphics. is that really that bad people? c'mon, the graphics will still be excellent, even if you can't see the sweat roll off some pixel's face.

nah, revolution isn't going to release in june since that's when nintendo is going to release the final versions of the revolution development kits. wishful thinking though. =P

haha people DO complain how they wouldn't want to get up or flick their wrist! For some reason I don't get why people don't like this? I know it's a very subjective matter. But really you get to move the sword as your wrist does or whatever! haha you reminded me of people who play car racing games.. they would tilt their controllers as they're steering. It's really funny. But yea it brings up a good point of people DO move around! This makes it easier to move.

I think I recall that the GC was stronger than the PS2 (although it didn't have DVD capabilities) but then again I could be wrong. The graphics on GC yes. ARE NOT THAT BAD!

Nooo Rev has to release early! I want to waste my summer before college T.T! Sadly this is a short post because I get to go away from the computer.. for once.

and yes! dammit leave Sony in the dust! haha it's nothing against them. It's the hype on them =P
sHiNHaWk
I'm tired of hearing people complain about the controller... They always give stupid excuses for not liking it... I think some of them dislike it because they've never seen anything like it before and its something new and innovative... Something those Nintendo haters never experience...
darkHorse
After all the years of saving up money since E3 2004, I've saved up around 3400$ which leaves me 3 choices. A brand new HDTV, PS3, and Nintendo Revolution. I am glad alot of ppl are giving positive signs about the revolution. And not to mention, you can also dl old games from previous consoles... I can't wait to play Mario Kart 64 again.
1SwtDeception
Iridescence: Yes buy the Rev =P get your friends too! They should keep the codename Revolution.. probably will because it seems stuck to me XD If they release it in JUNE or early like that.. that be nicey too! Summer break is going to be a Revolution ;] (yea that is pretty dorky).

KAME: If the Rev could play U3 engine then hey it's still on a good level of power. Revolution won't be the same NES we know or anything, but they can only be better. But this is a new way of playing and something new that brings more interaction with you and the game should be something.

Also wouldn't you be interested in innovated gameplay? Graphic and storyline is great, but how about playing it? With the Rev you could just move the remote and kill ;]. I want to see the previews too! But man Nintendo .. presented us with some good stuff lately so it shouldn't be a let down =P. Seriously you should list out all the title in the PS3 that's going for that because people like me.. just don't know ;].

sHiNHaWk: I wouldn't say they're Nintendo haters.. they just don't know games ;] I'm kidding. People tend to be ignorant and it's annoying. This is why I made a Nintendo thread WITH info. Look at the PS3.. where are they getting the info? I know obviously IGN and other sources. But see it's ridiculous already because of the hype they get. Just because the PS2 did well it could mean they fail the next or suceed the next. Nintendo I think wasn't as great as the N64. Some people will say N64 suck they can say it rocks, but I think the N did pretty good. Just like Sega's DC. Man that's a huge underdog. Anyways yea people don't try anything so it's stupid they give bad reasoning to not play the Rev. I'm fine with people who like 360 and PS3 with an open mind of the Rev you know? But when they just DON'T OPEN UP I will smack 'em up with their boomerrang controller sleep.gif!

darkHorse: I can't wait to play SNES games! I was totall deprived of SNES at my home. I only could play it at a friend's house (I think I was playing Genesis much more...). Nice savings! I'm just trying to save a few hundreds to get Rev for my love one and myself ^^. This would be so awesome playing the NES, SNES, N64 stuff. It would be nice if Sega added some of their game collection =[. Although it might ruin the experience, but I would love to play old school games online, but hey I'm good enough playing with whatever I got.

it could just be a rumor, as Nintendo did not release the official name at the GDC and i definately like revolution more than 'GO'.

for everyone worried about the HD era and Nintendo, Iwata confirmed that Nintendo will be releasing an HD capable console in the future when the HD market has settled and is standard.

I have to agree with Iwata! People are either behind technology or ahead of it (YEA YEA there are gray areas). I know HD will come and I know the world is going to be BR format. Sony is bringing it into the playing field.. well to me too early but whatever works.

And yea I was going to add.. the name will be "released" soon too. Revolution would be nice, since that is all I hear, but go Nintendo.

Thanks instant! =D

In an interview with Wired, EAD producer Hideki Konno confirmed that Nintendo had developed a Revolution title that revolved around the art of cooking. "We have this game with a big wok that you use to cook Chinese food, and it's really interesting to have the meat and vegetables frying in there, and use the controller to flip the food around without it spilling out of the pan." The official teaser trailer for the Revolution's controller also showcased a sequence in which players appeared to be playing a cooking title. It is highly likely that the console will feature a wide assortment of new gameplay experiences, this being one of the very first.

I can imagine the multiplayer now, Iron Chef ! Cook-off, then maybe like a crazy announcer 'Oniiioon battle!!"

Hiii angelz!

Yea the controller is different! I love how Iwata takes on the perspective of "everyone used a TV remote" kind of idea and used it for video games.

The commercial just makes me want the Rev even more. Sure it's kind of "over dramatic", but heck I know I act like that when I play my games with a regular controller, Nintendo is bringint it to a higher step =].

revmote rocks. it'll be a challenge to customize gaming controls with so few buttons on the controller, or at least porting games will be tough unless developers opt to use the gc controller.

Nintendo: Rev Games Under $50
Suggests the console's USB ports can be used with hard drives for additional storage.
by Matt Casamassina

March 29, 2006 - In an interview with CNNMoney, Nintendo president Satoru Iwata spoke about Nintendo's position in the next generation market, and specifically about the company's forthcoming console, still-codenamed Revolution.

Although many new Xbox 360 games launch with a suggested retail price of $59.99, Iwata dismissed the possibility that Nintendo would follow suit with its first party Revolution games. "I cannot imagine any first party title [on Revolution] could be priced more than $50," he said. "I really don't think that there's going to be a lot of acceptance by current customers of the $60 price tag."

Nintendo's president further elaborated that simple, addictive games like Tetris might be offered through Revolution's virtual console, while "masterpiece" titles would more likely be distributed on physical discs.

Consumers can buy Xbox 360 with a 20 gigabyte hard drive and Sony recently announced that PlayStation 3, which launches later this year, will require a 60 gigabyte drive. Revolution, on the other hand, will feature only 512 megabytes of internal flash memory, to which downloaded games and other content can be stored. Nintendo at the Game Developers Conference 2006 announced that SEGA Genesis and TurboGrafx 16 titles can be downloaded to Revolution's virtual console.

Iwata told CNNMoney that Revolution users would be able to expand the system's 512MBs of internal flash memory with SD Cards, which can be plugged into the front of the console. SD Cards come in sizes upward of 8GBs. More interestingly, though, is what Iwata suggested to the publication, which is that because Revolution features two USB ports "… practically any storage method can be used." This comment would seem to indicate that users will, in fact, be able to hook up a hard drive to Revolution for significantly expanded storage.

Finally, the Japanese executive hinted that more virtual console partners were on board and would be announced at a future date. "A number of different publishers are now interested in participating in this virtual console system," he said. "As far as the details, though, I believe we will wait for another opportunity before discussing them."

Nintendo will launch its new generation Revolution console before Thanksgiving in America. The company plans to pull back the curtains on the machine, showing any secret features and playable games, at the Electronics Entertainment Expo in Los Angeles this May.

"IBM's "Broadway" CPU is clocked at 729MHz, according to updated Nintendo documentation. By comparison, GameCube's Gekko CPU ran at 485MHz. The original Xbox's CPU, admittedly a different architecture altogether, was clocked at 733MHz. Meanwhile, Xbox 360 runs three symmetrical cores at 3.2GHz."

"Revolution's ATI-provided "Hollywood" GPU clocks in at 243MHz. By comparison, GameCube's GPU ran at 162MHz, while the GPU on the original Xbox was clocked at 233MHz."

"Revolution will operate using 24MBs of "main" 1T-SRAM. It will additionally boast 64MBs of "external" 1T-SRAM. That brings the total number of system RAM up to 88MBs, not including the 3MB texture buffer on the GPU. By comparison, GameCube featured 40MBs of RAM not counting the GPU's on-board 3MBs. The original Xbox included 64MBs total RAM. Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 operate on 512MBs of RAM."

well, here's the current specs for the Revolution from developer sources (i got this info from IGN--i love this place). although the revolution is like 3 times less powerful than the ps3 and 360, it's comparably similar to the original xbox.
sHiNHaWk

haha you're telling me about it.. I got the PS3 discussion practically filled of it sleep.gif.. so I have no need to explain any further. Also yea the commercial is great ^___^! haha the fly swapping and the drums was cool. The shooter one is interesting because I think it will be easier for me to control and I seriously haven't enjoyed any shooters since Goldeneye on 64.

Also KAME just because it's a "weak system" doesn't mean weak game play ;] but more bang for our bucks!

instantnoodlez: I was deprived of the SNES! =[ I'm happy I get to dl it now whenever I hear more details on it and when the Rev comes out ^^. Also thanks for the spec info update!

NEVERland You should be interested in getting the Rev too! It's inexpensive compared to its competitors! And I'm sure you'd have a lot of fun playing!

theonecalledy2ckt: Yeaaa maybe I heard the quote from you first? haha I'm not sure. But defintely save up money for the Rev! I'm not a big music simulation fan although I love DDR/Stepmania ;] but I still have yet to try Beatmania =[.

Thanks SlashRain for the update on Rev news! I still think $50 for a game is expensive and compared to the 360's price of $60 well I think it's better to have that $10 off. I'm all for game play ^^. Seriously people don't understand that graphics is the main point of playing a game, it's just apart of it.

lazibratt: I'm not sure if there will be DDR on the Revolution. I hope there will be ^^. But with the controller it's just eyetoy with a remote controller.. But with the pad that will be nice =]. I want my Mario DDR =[. I also want some more music simulations!

I hope they don't raise up the pricing of the Revolution like the DS Lite. The spec for the XB is nice compared to GC and I think it's good enough for the Rev. Yea you don't need the best stuff for a system, it's a plus, but not really needed =].

Btw I want Zelda! I can't wait to try it out on the Rev though!
rumblefish
I cannot wait till it comes out! It's so much more cuter and prettier than the other two "next-gen" consoles (at least in my opinion)!

True that!

I wonder how Zelda would be played? Perhaps you could use the controller as some sort of sword peripheral?

The controller is very very cool&
