how do u guys feel bout ur psp? wen i first got it, i wes like WHOA IT CAN PLAY MOVIES N MP3s AND GAMES!? kick ass! bah den cuz of tha low memory chip i couldnt fit much stuff into it so I wes like eh, i didnt like it dat much n wes like i should of gotten an Ipod instead, bah after i got a 1 GB card i started to like it again,

ive been usin mind to watch movies n music videos during long trips. and iono bout u guys but i cant WAIT for the new Grand Theft Auto: Liberty Stories for the PSP, as well as Final Fantasy: Crisis Core, the 2 games dat i want tha most rite now.

what firmware are you using? im just wondering how your able to listen to soompi radio...r u using firmware 2.0 (or 2.1)??

right now mine is still firmware 1.5 only becuz i like to be able to use all the homebrew stuff...right now i just been using the UMD Emulator to play psp games...yea yea its illegal but Id be pretty damn pissed and feel ripped off if Im paying $40-$50 for these PSP games...cuz majority of them are average to just straight up sucking...GTA:LCS is prolly the only game ill end up purchasing for now...its the only killer app coming out...but im hoping they release Suikoden I & II here...

every once in awhile ill put music on and prolly a music video...i usually have time to play it at work but its like i can play got 5 mins then gotta go do something another 5min then do something etc etc...i havent purchased any UMD movies becuz I think its a total rip off on Sony's part for making us pay the same for UMD as a DVD is...buuuttt ill prolly end up getting Ong Bak this weekend...

oh yea btw if your using 2.0 and thinking of downgrading to 1.5 you need to be careful, there is a trojan out there now...its a PSP Downgrader by PSP team which will just brick your PSP...a safe downgrader is by MPH...

Yup, PSP sucks. I'm not what people call "new gamer". That term refers to grapic whore. I'm old (22, lol) so I grew up when games were made for the reason games were made, to be fun. PSP looks great but wihtout gaes, its crap. I love my DS, play it everyday while I gave my PSP to my girlfriend to use but I got her a DS so she doesn't touch it anymore too, lol.

I only own 2 PSP games since I got it, on launch (brought 4 in total but played all the games that came out to this day) while I picked up My DS a month ago and have 7 games and planningto pick up more, Castlevania Dawn of Sorrow IS THE i can't read!

My boyfriend used to use his PSP (got it when it first came out) to play anime on it. It was cool.. Too bad I don't really like Naruto that much, and I don't care for Bleach. As for games.. he bought a few. It kind of died out. Now he's waiting for his XBOX 360.

I don't think I would quaifly as one especiailly since I got a PSP and a PS2. I buy systems for guess what?? GAMES! The only reason my PS2 gets love is RPGs. I love my PS2 for RPGs but if they didn't have it then I would have sold my PS2 since there's no games I want to play. I don't like Xbox and its for the same reason, no games I want to play thats not out for another system. Only game for xbox i want is Ninja Gaiden but I'm not going to buy a system for one game then let it collect dust until another game I want comes out. Xbox has been out for years but I only see Nonja Gaiden as the only game I want out of 100s.

I do love Nintendo, and its because of software. Just spent 6 hours playing Mario Kart and Tennis with my buddies a few days ago. I can't see myself doing that with any other game. To me, software sells, not graphics.

Honestly for now all games for PSP arent that good. GTA: Liberty City is good Sims2 andSocom is also. But really for now PSP games arent that good but from looking at the EBgames psp list a lot of good titles ( SF:3 Guilty Gear, Gran Turismo, Final Fantasy:Crisis Core basically the stuff we loved for PS2 ) is coming so i suggest you wait to buy your friend some games.

not that much PSP love around here... when it comes to games, PSP fails miserably when compared to the DS... I dont think people are really using PSP for gaming though... I've noticed that people usually watch movies or listen to music with their PSP's... I never hear talk about any cool games for the system either...

the only game for the PSP im looking forward to is the Valkyrie Profile remake...

I've had my PSP for about a month now, and I'm already thinking about selling it. For all the things that it is the capable of, not one thing really stands out to me. The only game I really play is Madden. I don't use the PSP for music since I already have an mp3 player. As for movies, I could put 'em on the memory stick, but it's not like I'm away from home so often I can't watch it on my computer. Maybe a downgrade to 1.5 firmware might help, so I can play some roms, but then I didn't pay over $250 just to play old games. I'm hoping Sony releases Gran Turismo for the PSP soon, because that's the only game I'm really looking forward to.

I've had my PSP for about of month also, but I've been all over it.
I know that there's solutions to the PSP's capabilities, such as the MP3 Player.
But seriously, when I look at it, I don't really need to listen to 20 GB of music.
I have about 200 songs on my PSP, along 20 Episodes of Bleach and Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children.
The movies are in high quality, and I pull my PSP out alot even when I'm at home.

I mean, yes there's a pretty hefty investment involved in the PSP.
But there are some good games out there for it also, such as PoPoloCrois, Legend of Heroes, Lumines, Burnout Legends, Wipeout Pure, Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories, and Mega Man X: Maverick Hunter

i think with Socom/Lumines alone you'd be pretty happy with a psp considering that all the memory left can be used for music or movies.

can somebody explain what the "firmware 1.5" means and "downgrading"?

does the psp come with firmware 1.5 or do u download? cuz if u just use the emulator, wow that saves alot of money on games

^ Firmware 1.5 is the one that allows emulators to be played. I believe all import PSPs have the 1.5 firmware but in the US its 2.0 and i dont think you can downgrade :-(

I own a psp and i didnt really enjoy it the first time because of the small memory capacity but since i got myself a Sony 1 gig HS Duo Pro.. i had been watching movies, playing UMD games thru fast loader and listening to over 50 mp3 music on it all day. If ur usually out of your house everyday and at work.. then PSP is good choice. If ur at home most of the time.. then the PSP might be quite useless to you since u have a PC.

i got a PSP, i have to share it with my brother. i don't really mind. All he does on it is play GTA:LCS and listen to music.
I seldom play the games, but i use it to listen to music & watch video clips. We got ours imported from Hong Kong and the 32mb memory, but then a week later we decided to get the 1Gb memory.
so far it's doing pretty good. We have only 2 games. I think buying those UMD movies are a rip off. they are $20~$30 each and we will probably only watch them a few times...

nebody no ne good games comin out for the PSP soon? Square Enix is releasing Crisis Core sumtime next month, it takes place before FF7, hopefully it'll be a good rpg for tha PSP.

Firmware 1.5 came out with the first batch of US PSP, the later batches had the upgrades of 2.0 to 2.6. its basically sets limits to what the psp can do and with each firmware upgrade it allows the psp to do more and more things...

and yes you can downgrade...i just did it this morning...downgraded from 2.0 back to 1.5. certain games require that you upgrade them to play (like GTA)...but since ive played enough of GTA on my psp for awhile now i decided to downgrade it back to use the homebrew stuff...its any easy process, but i wouldnt recommend doing it alot becuz there is still the chance of bricking your psp...download MPHDowngrader if your looking to do so.

Fastloader...its basically a PSP "mod chip"...it allows you to DL most PSP games as .ISO, stick them onto your memory card and play it right off of it...

BTW all PSP firmwares have been hacked to play homebrew...with 1.5 being able to do all of them and 2.0-2.6 being able to do most of them...

Haha, Don't worry johnny. There are so many other people out there in this world that did not find out about the homebrew communinty until after they had upgraded to 2.60. Firmware Version 2.60 is currently not downgradable so you're going to have to find/buy yourself a copy of Grand Theft auto: Liberty City if you want to get into homebrew.

I had a 1.50 virgin firmware but upgraded over to 2.00 and have been on there since then . Fanjita/Ditlew eloaders own my soul. I'd go back and downgrade to 1.50 and try the mph loaders for games that require 2.00+FW (Ie...Crash Bandicoot, PQ, DJMAX, etc), but then again...I'm not really in the mood of downgrading, 'mph'ing the system (to where I may possibly brick the sucker), and then test everything. I'm good at 2.00 using the PSPsetX with the 2.60 update in order to play games. It's a less of a hassle ......and I think IMAJynXed1 is the only other person in this thread that can understand what I just said ahah.

the new MPH Loader is fantastic...some games (2.0+) require a trick to get it to work on 1.5 but its all pretty much ripping the UMD (or extracting the ISO), replacing files and then rebuilt it again...there are a couple of games that are 2.0+ that works fine witht he MPHLoader v1.1 without having to modify the files...just load the UMD and start MPHL...so now i can play GTA without having to worry about upgrading/downgrading/bricking...NICE!

Question though, what program do you use to replace the files? PRX and such. I already a few old 1.50 required games on my comp (Taiko no Tatsujin) so that's out of the way. The dumping I got down with fastloader already so that's no problem.... I'm a bit confused on the flash0/flash1 parts, though. Where would I get those files from? KD? That site you gave is intruiging me haah.

yea alot of that deals with ISO but there are a few listing for 2.0+ UMDs on there also...

more info can be found on http://mphwebsite.tuxfamily.org/ (thats MPH's site), itll have all the tools youll need to do all that...but his directions are a bit confusing...especially the flash0/flash1 part...to get those files you need to DL his "MPH Firmware launcher"...install that into your PSP and then start it up...when you run the program itll have an option to "Install" (basically dump, not upgrade) the firmware onto your memory card...so choose FW 2.0 and let it do its thing, itll take a few minutes...once that is done open your PSP again in your comp...and in your top folder of your memory stick you will see some new files...flash0/flash1 folders will be there also (or inside another folder, i forget)...and then stick those folders into the "mphgameloader" that should be also on the top folder of the MS if you already have the mphloader installed...once you have those in there you can try an ISO (thru UMDEmu) or a 2.0+ UMD game by simply starting MPHLoader instead of selecting the UMD in the PSP...

Simple answer. Not all games have game sharing. But just to make sure, go to your network settings under the settings category on your psp and make sure the ad hoc mode is on automatic. It should work from there.
