Kai Yuuki (Satoshi Tsumabuki) is in his senior year at university studying social welfare psychology. At present, he is in the middle of job-hunting season. He is finding it difficult with no job offers so far.
One day, he meets a girl who is playing violin in the campus. She is Sae Hagio (Kou Shibasaki). In marked contrast to her beautiful tone and attractive looks, her personality is somewhat impertinent. And to top it off, she communicates through very vulgar sign language.
Four years ago, she lost the most important thing for a violinist - her hearing. As a result Sae closed off her inner self from the outside world.
Kai finds himself on a date with Sae, in place of his best friend. Unexpectedly, he comes into contact with Sae's private side.
Love, job-hunting, friendship... Setting a campus in spring as a dorama`s backdrop, it's the start of a glittering youth drama.

I just realized how HOTTTT is 瑛太 after I watched him in Tokyo Friends

My absolute favourite drama. It made me fall in love with Satoshi.
<3 It's such a happy drama. ^^

I love this drama! Not only is Satoshi cute, but there's also Eita and Hiroki Narimiya. All six characters are lovable. Plus, Shibasaki Kou did a really good job with the sign language. I learned a lot!

I thought Orange Days was a really sweet and funny drama. And plus you can't go wrong with both Satoshi and Nari. <3

Even though I love this drama, I thought the ending was a little rushed...but all in all, it's one of my favorites.

I fall in love with Satoshi here. I wish there's more Japanese drama like this. Kai is wonderfully sweet guy and Kou Shibasaki...wow what a performance.

Shibasaki Kou was incredible in this. She totally gave her character life and played her really well.

I have this DVD so romantic, funny and touching this drama is my favorite and this actor Satoshi Tsumabuki my fav idol to... He is great can play sign language I know this girl so sad she want hear sound and anything she want... NOW she and he be always together coz they always support and happy together I like this drama japan ALWAYS

This drama was good, made me fall in love with Satoshi Tsumabuki as well as wanting to learn sign language. At first, I didn't like Kou Shibasaki but as the story progressed, I liked her and she played her character really well.

anyways~ this has to be my favorite jdrama ever!!! i love satoshi tsumabuki!!! i like how there are no villains here...jst a story of how their college lives went..and friendship..and love..it's a very sweet, very rewarding drama

Like everyone else, I felt in love with Satoshi Tsumabuki here. He was so incredibly hot and cute. I love everything about this drama. The sign language was really well done by all the characters. I wish my university/college life can be like this too.

i got it from a batch torrent.. just look up orange days series torrent jtv -- it was awesome, really sets a mood of youth/growing up/reaching out to others, ect.

so there really isn't any other jdramas like this?

I remember back then, there was a drama with college love story background with titled "Ordinary People". But i was disgusted with the lead's character. Kakei, if iam not wrong always cheated on his gf..weather he's with the female lead or not, he always think about someone else...

But kai is more faithfull..at least he refused to sleep with his ex even he's drunk..

That's the drama that propelled Takuya Kimura into stardom! He was only the second lead bac then but everyone was like rooting for his happiness instead of Kakei.

By the way, Satoshi & Kou made me watch this, but in the end, I just fell for Nari, hard! I really like Orange Days, but I've watched so many Jdramas that it didn't make it to my Top10

kou is definitely one of japan's finest actresses and she really showed how versatile she could be in this drama!

the characters are all likable, i just feel sorry for keita for not winning akane's heart but i guess akane/shohei are the much better couple! ,,

I used to watch a few episodes of this on a Taiwanese channel. Obviously the subs were in Chinese so I understood NOTHING. I still found it very interesting though, and I'm planning on buying the DVD. I'd like to download this but unfortunately I'm not on broadband yet! (Haha I know loser)

I seriously adore this drama. All of the guys are cuteness. It's sooooo good. I think I need to watch it again! It's definitely in my top ten, probably #3. But I've only watch about 6 jdramas so that might change!

Was reading an Japan Entertainment News Article dated march 18th that ...

Japanese Pebulication FRIDAY that has publish pictures yesterday (?March 17, 2006? ) that "proves" that he is dating Sibasaki Kou his costar from orange days - apparently it was of them in the car after dinner. The article seemed to allude that they have been secretly dating for a few years.

Does anyone have this picture? I tried looking for it with no success...

I remember watching this movie last summer. it was the first and only jdrama ive ever watched the entire way through. i dont know why though. it was alright. but i mostly watched it because Tsumabuki Satoshi is the hottest thing out there.

But for me the best actor / actress in this drama is none other than Kou shibasaki. Some said that Satoshi is the best..not for me..
As people who's not deaf, it's very hard to talk by sign language all the time and keep her mouth shut. And she always use sign language entire eps (except in the last part of last eps..two words). It's not easy..compare to the other 5, they use sign language only when it needed..

i am in my last year of college right now, i can so relate to the story.

..orange days is still my favorite drama ever

i was really surprised with this drama. i thought itd be heavens coin 1, 2 & 3 all over again so i passed but somehow i got a hold of episode 1 and then finished the drama in 3 days. . . during my midterms. heh.

more than a story about a deaf girl and how she fell in love, this story moved me because it really was about life...of course focused on college years. not knowing what you want to do, not knowing if youre even good enough, and being satisfied with what god gave you.

gonna buy the dvd of this. it makes me really want to make memories before college ends and its my first time seeing kou act but she did a good job with the sign language. but there in that new movie dororo coming out yeah? along with keita? cant wait to see that.

I bought this drama because of Satoshi and it worth it! The friendship, love and college life seems so real. shanghai honey still keep repeating in my mind. I think all of them act really good in orange days.

Agree, I think all the issues brought up in this drama are so real. And second, all the cast did a good job especially Tsumabuki Satoshi & Shibasaki Kou

This is my favorite Jdrama by far. Wonderful cast, great storyline and just a pleasure to watch. I always thought Satoshi was pretty hot from watching him in Weddings, where he played a small role. But his character in Orange Days is totally my dream man. Do guys like that really exist in this world? Ah one can only hope.

I starting watching Jdramas recently cuz frankly, I'm tired of Kdramas. The similarity in the plots are really boring and predictable now. I find that I like the storylines in Jdramas a lot more. The bring up a lot of social/moral issues in the plots but they don't use melodrama (and/or weird coincedences) to make their stories interesting.

this was the BEST j-drama.
