It's not uncommon in Korea to have live squid with gochujang(red bean paste) as the dipping sauce. Personally, I prefer the squid to be cook before I eat it. Some people do enjoy it and I guess it's personal preferences and culture thing.
aesthete
Yeah I can't eat the squid live so we usually cook it.
Azngel
my dad had it once. he said it was impossible to chew and he didnt want to seem rude in front of the guests so he swallowed it whole
mrshyunbin

but I doubt it taste of anything but a bit salty and very chewy :/
bloopy_babo
yeah ive seen it and my dad has had it before but we dont eat it often since we dont live by the sea or anything and live in america. i would rather eat something dead.
kenna
people only eat it with certain kinds of octopus though. It has to be small.

my jaw dropped when I read that

I dont think I can imagine myself eating it when its still ALIVE
mwtk
I hated the taste and feel of it down my throat. I had to eat it when I was with my host family in Japan years ago. It would be rude if I didn't eat it. It's not for everyone, let's just say that I didn't feel very well later on that night. ph34r.gif
Classic Example
Haha. Poor Oscar. I never tried raw octopus before. I always have mine like fried or something before I eat it.
theedqueen
yea.........no. I prefer my wriggling cephalopods(I think?) dead and cooked thank you very much.
tiffa
Sometimes i'm suprised at what asian people eat.. the way it wriggles in your mouth makes me want to throw up >_>
yunax21
i ate a live octopi once!! it was good i guess.. but it felt weird x_X like it was still moving in my mouth & i had to bite it really hard... i felt so sad when my dad started cutting the legs... T_T i was afraid i might just swallow it & it might get stuck in my throat & i'll die....... blink.gif crazy.gif ph34r.gif
BloodPrincessShiroto
I don't think I would I'd be afraid of choking on it and dying. This show I was watching was talking about it and a guy actually died from eating live Octopi because it suctioned onto his throat and caused him to sufficate.
embol
Oh my, I was just watching this when Anthony Bourdain went to Korea..
I can never eat it raw.
It's still moving.. and it clings
gahh, I can't ever eat anything raw.
Pao!
i'm still thinking on whether i'd try it once or not... x.x
cos.... i can eat raw, sometimes... BUT.. this one's ALIVE! ALIVE!
Errr... and the octopus's tentacles would cling to your mouth, and especially tighter cos it doesn't wanna be eaten... errr...
i'd still think about it. x.x hahaha...
tvbdramafan

Maybe I should go with one tentacle each time and I'll remember to chew properly if I ever have the chance to try live Octopi.
koneee
AHHAHA when i first saw teh litto octopi the first thing I said was, "OMG HOW CUUUUUTE!" Actually.. when they ate it, it didn't look too bad, but then again I dislike raw squid... so... raw octopus wouldn't be too good for me.

i was on korea at that time, n the tour guide suggest that we should try eating their delicacies...n there's this one big squid still alive, i was like crazy.gif . Then the aljuhma cut the tentacles and put it into our mouth, you can actually feel it's sucking ur tounge. w00t.gif

smilene
that reminds me, hyde and tetsu from L'Arc~en~Ciel ate at a Korean restaurant while they were in Korea. They ordered the live octopus (I think it was this or something that was still alive) and only hyde tried it. It didn't look fun to eat. lol
GreentealeaF
