I did them with these flower shaped vegetable/cookie cutters by Joyce Chen. I don't know if you can find them anymore. But if you can't find these specific ones, look for small cookie cutters. smile.gif Metal ones work best.

Sweet Dreamz
The sweet and sour pork and chicken looks REALLY good.

I was bored so I decided to try out a new recipe. I love baking. It's so much fun! Hehe, anyway, I ended up making cinnamon sugar biscotti. I dipped it into warm white vanilla hot cocoa (I don't like tea that much and I don't drink coffee) and it was simply amazing!! I took a nice picture for it. I got the recipe off allrecipes.com (LOVE that site) and it didn't have a picture so I went ahead and took one.

I have a question... How did you get the colour of the icing so bright without making the it taste like food colouring? i've been trying this for a while now, to make a vibrant colour of icing but it always ends up tasting like... well ... *h!t

I always thought the more you put, the darker you get O.o Like there was one time my friend added food colouring with the icing mix, and she made baby pink by adding a little bit in, and then she added ALOT more to make hot pink. ^o^

My first attempt to make Egg Tarts! lolxP The crust was a bit thin so it came out screwy =P Looks bad but tastes alright! tongue.gif
Sweet Dreamz
Oh! The egg tarts look pretty good!! I really like them...yummy yummy!

I attempted a Japanese cheesecake today. I substitute regular cream cheese for fat free but it still turned out alright. Maybe I didn't have enough water for the water bath since the tray I used wasn't very deep. It didn't turn out as light and fluffy as it should've, I don't think...

IPB Image

My attempt to garnish a slice and make it look cool but it's not a "real" cheesecake so it looks kinda funny:

Pasta con L'Uova e Mollico (Pasta mixed with Toasted Garlic Breadcrubs and Golden Raisins) with Pork Cubes and Red Bell Peppers
IPB Image

This is a modification of a Sicilean Dish. I love Italian food.

Here's my recipe:

You will need the following ingredients and equipment.

* Stove
* 1 Large Sauce Pan, 1 Small Sauce Pan, 1 Stock Pot
* A Pair of Tongs
* 2 Spatula
* A Cutting Board
* A Cleaver
* Plates
* Forks
* Measuring Spoons

* Extra Virgin Olive Oil
* Rigatini or Spaghetti
* Red Bell Pepper
* 2 Pork Cutlets (No Bone)
* 3 Garlic Cloves
* Plain Bread Crumbs
* Golden Raisins or Any kind of Raisins
* Honey
* Salt
* Water

Directions

1. Get your sauce pans and stock pot (filled a quarter of the way with water) on your stove top.
2. In one Sauce pan, pour enough EVOO to cover the pan, add your red bell peppers. Turn up the heat, about a medium blaze. Don't burn, just sear.
3. In other Sauce pan, pour about 5 to 6 Tablespoons of EVOO in. Slice up 3 garlic cloves and add them to the EVOO. Turn up the heat.
4. Get your water in the Stock Pot going. Add salt until you get a sea like taste.
5. Put a little salt and pepper in with your Red Bell Peppers.
6. Cook the water in your Stock Pot slowly. You need time to cook the Pork.
7. Once your garlic has browned, add in enough breadcrumbs (eyeball it) where the oil covers and saturates the breadcombs. You want the breadcrumbs to soak up the oil. Be careful about adding too much. Do it slowly, stirring them in the oil. Remember to turn your heat down.
8. Soak the Raisins in some warm water to soften them up then add to the toasting breadcrumbs. Don't burn the breadcrumbs.
9. Cut up your boneless pork cutlets or chops, salt, and add to the softened, seared Red Bell Peppers. Cook until down. Near the end, add a little honey to add a pinch of sweetness and to give a golden brown look to the pork.
10. Halfway through cooking the pork, you should have turned off the heat to the pan with the breadcrumbs or whenever they finished toasting. You also need to add your pasta to the stock pot and cook this thoroughly.
11. Your pasta should finish around the same time you finish the pork, if you planned it right. smile.gif
12. Take some pasta and use your tongs to place on the plate. Spoon in some of the breadcrumbs (as much as desired) and mix the pasta with the breadcrumbs. You can mix a drop or two of EVOO in to help this happen. Top your pasta with the pork and red pepper.
13. Voila! Bon Appetitte.

This is something that I just threw together, so I don't really have exact measurements for all of the ingredients. If I make it again sometime in the future, I'll try and post up a more exact recipe :]

Ingredients & Equipment
-Rice (You're going to be rolling them up into balls, so make sure you have enough)
-Sesame seeds
-Sesame oil
-Garlic (minced)
-Pepper
-Gochujang/Dwaenjang (optional) ; if you're going to use this, just mix it in with the rice in the first step.
-Bacon (raw)
-Toothpicks
-Mixing bowl
-Plastic gloves (optional)
-Frying pan

Directions
1. When the rice is ready and hot, mix in the sesame seeds, sesame oil, minced garlic, and pepper to taste.
2. When the rice is evenly mixed with the ingredients, start rolling the rice into balls with plastic gloves, if you're using them. Make sure you pack the balls tightly, so that they don't fall apart later. The balls shouldn't be too big; just use the bacon as reference as to how wide/large you should make them.
3. After you have prepared the rice balls, count how many bacon slices you need (one bacon per rice ball)
4. When preparing the bacon, I cut off about an inch off of each end (the fattiest part), because using an entire slice of bacon makes the finished product a bit too thick.
5. Now, you are ready to roll the rice balls in the bacon.
6. Insert the toothpick into the end of the bacon to keep it intact. (see my picture for reference)
7. Heat a frying pan ( NO OIL!)
8. Place the rice balls in the pan, turning occasionally so that the bacon doesn't burn.
9. When all of the bacon sides are evenly browned and cooked through, take them out.
10. I personally think the bacon creates a LOT of grease, so I pat them down with paper towels before serving.

Extra note: I personally think they taste yummy with pickles :]

I whipped up my own warm shiitake and fish tofu salad since i've been getting pretty bored with the same balsimico vinegrette dressing for the past few days...anyways, the pic is a bit blurry...i need a new camera..but it was a nice and yummy dinner ^^

IPB Image

Warm Shiitake and Fish Tofu Salad

-chopped iceberg lettuce
-shredded carrots
-tomatos
-minced garlic
-diced fish tofu
-shiitake mushrooms
-light soy sauce
-sesame seeds
-sesame seed oil
-salt
-chilli powder (optional)
-olive oil
-lemon wedge

1. Prepare you salad with a combination of lettuce, carrots, and tomatos
2. In a frying pan, pour in the olive oil..when warm, put in your minced garlic to saute. Then add the fish tofu and shiitake mushrooms and stir fry.
3. Season with salt, chilli powder, light soy sauce, and a dash of sesame seed oil
4. Sprinkle some sesame seeds at the end
5. Turn off heat and place your stir fry on top of your salad
6. Before eating, squeeze a lemon wedge over your salad and stir fry
7. Eat and enjoy!! ^^

*You can make various variations of the stirfry...try it with beef, pork, or chicken....or go teriyaki style and add some sugar and oyster sauce!

Salads don't have to be so boring now do they? ^^

Obviously they weren't made all in the same day. I wish I had the ability though :9. I don't like eating leftovers.

I think homecooking is a great ability. I was reading a food book in Borders the other day and it had pictures of families from all over the world who had their picture taken displaying their week's worth of food. You'd see Chinese people with fresh fruits, veggies, not too much meat, etc. An Italian would have a lot of meats, pasta, etc. What SURPRISED me the most was the picture of an American family. 90% of their food were contained in cardboard boxes or packaged food items. Barely any fresh produce.

I wanted to eat something sweet and fat-free today and ended up with this:

rice with watermelon, pineapple, peach, cinnamon, ginger, anise, nutmeg and a teaspoon honey.

It's delicious, but maybe just because I used the cinnamon and ginger very generously.

what i made... over a period of time. haha. mmm.. i can't exactly say when i started to develop my passion for baking but it's been a year or so now. lol.
note: i make everything from scratch. i really don't like those things out of a box. hahaha.

i made this for my friend's surprise birthday party last september. she used to be in love with hollywood, movies.. stuff like that. and it was a themed party; and the colours were black and purple. (classy eh?) so this is just rich and dense chocolate cake with a purple icing. i tried making the icing purple but it ended up being a palee pinkish colour... i have no idea why. w/e. it looks nice.
