Have you guys heard of Humming Urban Stereo?
I LOVE HUS<3
It says on YesAsia that they're a "one-man project band"~
So I guess it's just ONE guy that's a member~
I love the song Scully doesn't know and Hawaiin couple.
If you like Clazziquai, Loveholic, Instant Romantic Floor, W(Where the Story Ends), you'll love Humming Urban Stereo. They're in the same record label as Instant Romantic Floor; PASTEL.
I also bought both of their albums on YesAsia^^
H.U.S. is just one guy with guest singers on the records.
Love it anyways.

^ No they're not O_o
They're like electronica/groove/dance/lounge/techno/hip hop/pop I don't know how to explain it. It's a bunch of stuff mixed into one genre.

Just as a head's up, the guy who did this also produced Casker, which is a bit more electronic than the other two (Humming Urban & Instant Romantic). I also have a suspicion that he is the genius behind Love & Pop as well, which has more vocals than electronic. Just two other groups to check out if you like HUS.

Sep 4 2006, 10:42 PM
I think Casker's music is closer to Clazziquai than to HUS...
Jeereen' site is awfully interesting^^.

^~ lol i guess that's one way of putting it.
just wondering, would Humming Urban Stereo be called Shibuya Kei style of music? (i really don't know what shibuya kei is, heard about it once and was just asking. maybe someone here knows?

)

Oct 5 2006, 12:10 AM
I think "Shibuya Kei" is used only for Japanese artists who focus on electro/lounge/groove/etc music. It cant be considered a music genre theoretically.
Once I got that notion when searching for some Capsule' sample songs. Due to the fact that HUS took part in the series "Kosney at home" with a lot of Japanese artists, it may be decent to call their music as "Shibuya Kei".

Yeah, the female's vocal was a little... nasally and seems kind of "unpolished" but I think that's what makes it even more unique.

I second that. I've been listening to it over and over again.
I don't really like listening to the album for like, say, an hour. The voice gets a bit annoying after listening to the album continuously.

Wow, I have to say that his style of music sure as matured from the first album to the current one.
I have to say that it sounds very similar to Jamiroquai, from what I've heard.

I'm not sure homework music is what I would use to define the music I like. God forbid I forgot my homework when I watched them perform! Then I would be at a loss what to do. (That's a joke, so don't get upset.) Do you know, I listened to nothing but Tool for a summer semester for a really tough class and I wound up getting an A, A+. That happened because tool rawks.

^ lol, that reminds me of a summer class I took where I listened to nothing but Marilyn Manson & also wound up getting an A.... I kept it on from 4:30am to 12am.....
My neighbors loved me. (they still do).
Somehow for me, HUS isn't exactly study/work-motivating music.
