Sounds like a connector problem, like ground is shorted with the remote input or something. If you try other headphones or try adjusting the connector while it plays (Like apply pressure from different sides) does it fix it? If it does, you might be looking at buying a replacement headphone connector part... pretty sure its just a little chip you plug in.

It might be your headphone, because ipod stock earphones are *thumbs down. Try plugging in another headphone and see how it goes.

What preference is it to make the iTunes player appear in the taskbar? Like when you minimise the main window (while you have a song playing), it will sit in the taskbar and show you the name of the current song playing and buttons such as play, pause, fast forward, rewind? At the moment, when I minimise the window, it goes into the system tray only. I have iTunes 7

u will need your sister to transfer all her songs from her computer to your computer. then u, yourself have to install itunes on your own computer, then put the songs in your own itunes. thats the only way it will work cause the itunes library is only specific to ONE computer.

From the sounds of it, the hard drive is probably going out. A full format might help, a restore might help the database become uncorrupted... but if your warranty still works you should probably just send it to apple asap.

i have a fifth gen video ipod so it charges through the USB port.
i was charging it with itunes closed, and i accidently shut down my computer.
all the ipod did was change to the main menu again. i turned the computer back on and the 'do not disconnect' logo came back on.
when i shut down the computer, could i have damaged anything in the ipod??
please help! i dont want my new ipod to freeze and break like my old one did.

If you hold iPod 1G to 3G: "Menu" and "Play/Pause" or iPod 4G+ (includes Photo, Nano, Video, and Mini): "Menu" and "Select"
That will reset the ipod. With any luck it will start over (your stuff will still be there) and be okay.

firmware is the internal software of the ipod, you can update it with the ipod updater. The ipod updater has the updtate and restore function. Restore should fix just about anything
@nana and missmilk, both of you have the same problem... perhaps you should try to redownload it and hope apple fixed the installer. I figure both of you woudln't have donwloaded the wrong file so it was most likely apple's fault where they put up a corrupted installer.

It didn't work

, something wrong with my computer I guess.
Another problem arose though xD. I recently installed Nero 7, and during installation *I guess I was a bit careless* and there was a list of applications that come with Nero 7 asked if I wanted to use to open particular types of file on my comp. I kept clicking next, and now the icon of my iTunes is some other pic other than its own :S.
I tried right-clicking on the icon, then properties, but the 'change icon' option is disabled

. I tried going to start, then drag the iTunes shortcut onto desktop again, but the same icon remains *sigh*. Any other ideas?
