I was looking through the topic "From Ugly Duckling to Magnificent Swan?" and i realized that it takes a long time (monthly based) to really get physical results.

I know that I am not obese, but i am not slender, i am just average.
Through my pictures you can't really see the fat because I hide it well how I dress, but there is a good amount of excess fat. I am currently 5'0'' (almost 5'1'') and 120 pounds. However at Five foot, I am suppose to be only a 100-105 pounds. I want to lose it, but its so hard! I can lose the first 5 pounds... because its water weight but after that it's really really hard. The highest # of pounds i've reached was 130.

I've been having this weight issue for years, and its been stressing me out like crazy.

I used to be really muscular in 6-7th grade because I worked at our chinese carry-out restaurant everyday, so I was not fat. Until.. 8th grade lifestyle i got hooked on the computer, became a total nerd and played computer games similar to World of Warcraft (WOW) everyday. I would eat junkfood at night and never leave the PC.
My ass got sooooo big. and I think i didn't grow because of that certain, unhealthy lifestyle.

I know that when you have a muscular/fit body, and then you just suddenly turn to junk food and no working out... your body turns twice the size that its suppose to be. .. well that is what happened to me. tears.gif sweatingbullets.gif sad.gif

Places where I need to lose fat (and I know that most of you guys have the same problem):


-Cheeks
-Fat on eyelid
-Neckfat
-Armpit/bicep area

-Stomach
-Butt and the fat that surrounds the hip/pelvis bones
-Inner/outer thighs
-Calves


I know some of you will ask questions like..

1. If it bothers you so much, why don't you work out?

-- I do. I've tried pilates, yoga, going to the gym, home-exercises, running outside, but I guess I never had the real motivation to really work out.

2. You're not that fat, why do you want to be stick-thin?

-- Because... b/c of my lifestyl back in 8th grade, I am like this. If i wasn't on the PC 24/7, and actually was socially active and did sports, my body would be completely different than today.

3. Why are you posting this?

-- Because I believe that there are people out there that knows that they have excess fat who are average people, and wants to burn it off in a healthy way.. but never really had the motivation because he/she knows that he/she is not so obsese.

4. So what's this topic's main purpose?


-- To help each other in a proper manner.. NO BASHING!




Let's help each other out and try to motivate each other more.
Bring together healthy recipes, secret tips, create exercising schedules, etc.

Well pretty much from #1, thats the reason why you're at that weight? I mean, if you worked at it, you could lose 5lbs pretty easy. A lot of people have careers where they must lose a specific amount of weight and there are programs to do so (actors/actresses/athletes). But generally the most effective way of losing weight is a healthy diet and running at least 3 days a week.

Stay away from candy, red meat, fatty foods, etc and try eating more veggies, fruits, and protein shakes (these can actually make u full and is healthy so its not a supplement). Anyway from what I see in ur pics you dont look too bad, but if you wana cut off the access fat in your body, pretty much the easiest way is what i stated above. Good luck!

Damn, I used to be 5'9" and 125lbs.
And I ate a loooooooooot. Now I'm 5'9" 130lbs.

Awww! What an encouraging thread^^ I want to lose WEIGHT! And like ALOT! Hahaha! I'm not gonna tell my weight because I'm embarrassed hehe. But yeah I skipped Yoga for a week and MAN! I think I'll get back on it today... <---- I mean it this time XD The next 30 minutes I'll go HAHA!

Maybe you've shoulda head on over to the Get Healthy Summer 2006 / 2007 thread. It pretty much has the same intent.

As you already stated, your lack of movitation is a big problem. You gotta commit and organize yourself to sticking this healthier lifestyle. And your issue isn't really about losing weight, but toning. Your pretty much in the weight range your suppose to be in for your height. The extra flab can be tighten by regular exercising that hits the spot and by minimizing your junk food intake.

yeahhh, I used to be 5'4" and 70 pounds...because then I ate only homemade korean food (no sugar, nothing fried, nothing greasy, no msg) and I ran around....a LOT. and then.....middle school/highschool, I stopped exercising, and started eating junk food. Ice cream, pizza, chocolate, chips, soda, you name it. And now, I'm 5'5" and 104 pounds. I try to lose weight, but I can't. ><" I starve myself for like a week, which means one or zero meals a day, and that brought me down to like 98, but I started eating again and I'm back to being fat. =___=" ughhhh~ I'm 16 now, btw. I was 70 pounds when I was like 13, 14.

just do what they listed out for you, and since you used to be fit, you can get back up to it. but as for the motivation thing... buy a smaller pants size :x that should get you working ^ ^;;

GAH!!! I need to lose weight, too!
Well not exactly to get skinnier but I wanna be more fit and toned( I'm jiggling everywhere sweatingbullets.gif )

I'm at my lowest weight since I stopped growing cos I lost about 10 kgs or so over the last year. But I still wanna lose 5-6 more kgs..

I'm 165 cm and 55 kg and I want to be 49-50 kgs! But apparently I'm really heavy as all my friends were surprised when I told them I'm 55. They thought I would be much lighter. That means I've got good bones, no? biggrin.gif

The thing is I'm the LAZIEST person in the whole world.. Like I just don't have the motivation to get off my butt and exercise.

I'm in the same condition as urs.. been eating too much since middle of this year.. i'm 5'4 and 51kgs. last year i was 47 kgs. omg, i've just realised that 51 - 47 = 4kgs in less than a year. >.< it's really hard for me to avoid food (including junk food) or eat less even when i'm not hungry at all. i dun have the motivation to work out and exam is coming soon. i guess i should keep myself busy and less carbohydrate and smaller portion for dinner.

If you really have a hard time. There are healthy formulas that you drink.

But anyways, You just need to get motivated, once you do, you're all set.

I mean...my goal was to lose just 5 pounds, but i lost 10 pounds in a week.
It's unhealthy, but i still haven't gained it back and its been a month.

gah! im 5'2 115 lbs..used to 110 about a month ago..i used to jog and workout lots. now ive become a lazy bum just doing h.w., eating and sleeping.=( working at kfc/a&w doesnt help much either..
im aiming for 100 or 105. that would be perfect for me..my thighs are the thing..>.> pwahh!!

I'm 5'5 and weigh about 117 lbs. In college and in my early 20's I used to weigh 103 lbs. I want to be 110 lbs since I think 103 was too skinny.

117 lb may not seem chubby to people but I'm one of those jiggly ppl who look thin with clothes on and also I'm small boned so 117 on a thin frame is a lot. I think I need to just lose a few lbs and work out to tighten up. I work in front of the computer all day and I travel for work so I can't seem to find time to work out. I'll check in monthly so I can make some progress.

BTW PinkCee I think you look great. You don't look 120 at all.

hmm i don't know how to lose my stomach fat, i don't weight that much, but then i have so much meat everywhere..lol..i'm 5'6'' and i weigh around 115lbs, i don't know if i should lose weight or go exercise..

i don't think i should really be worrying about it since i'm only 12, and this post is probably useless, but i honestly don't think that you're that fat. average ect. but yeah, it's okay to be 120 pounds, just eat healthy and stuff & do some excersising. i feel so stupid posting in here bcuz i'm doing the complete opposite, trying to gain, but i remember wanting to lose weight and it's one ofthosehorrible feelings. do you still pig out on the computer? if you do, then just stop going on the computer so much, stop pigging out and start being more social, go out a bit, do more sports, ect.

how old are you now? if you're still in highschool it'd be pretty easy for you to lose weight if you join sports & stuff... find more reasons to stand up bcuz you gain more pudges on the side if you sit alot...

Ah. This is a good idea. I want to loose some weight by prom which is 1 month ++ away.
Any amount is good, of course the larger the better.
I'm 5'7 140+lbs(around there conversion).
Hopefully i can go down to 125-130 by prom...
And by next year i'll be 105-110...

yeah, same here. i'm 5'0 and don't want to say my wieght but i want to be 100lbs too. most of the time i don't eat unless i'm hungry and stop eating before i'm full. my problem is i lack self discipline in all aspects of my life, wieght is no exception.

i really hate ppl who talk about how fat they are to me when it's obvious they r thinner, wtf. anyways...

i read in a magazine, it's better to eat very small meals every one or two hours than 3 regular sized meals a day if u are trying to lose wieght. faster to digest and speeds up metabolism better. stop eating before u feel full because if u wait until u FEEL full u have actually overate. also drink lots of water.

i usually lose wieght during school thought because of stress. god i hate stress though.

I belong in this thread...I'm very short, 5'1" and weigh 120...that's not so good for a short person, I should be in the 100 range...My pants size is so disturbing to myself for a short person...

I've actually started trying to lose weight too... well, to be more exact I'm just trying to be more physically fit. I'm 5'9 and 130 pounds... I'd like to get down to 120-125ish if possible.

Right now I'm walking on the treadmill (with an incline) for an hour everyday and playing tennis on the weekends. I think my biggest problem is gonna be eating healthier. I love love love my junk food. lol.

i have the WORST motivation ever. i have all these yoga/pilates/toning videos but i don't even use them. -sigh-

what you should do is do an school sport or something.
my church friend, who used to be extremely chubby (no offense), did track and field hockey. and now she has one of the hottest bodies i've ever seen x_x school sports help you stay motivated because you train with your friends and things like that :]

i need to work on my legs especially. my top half isnt really a problem when it comes to losing weight cos i can do sit ups like crazy if i have to. but my legs >< theres like some wierd concoction of muscle and flab. i get bored of stuff so easily too.

i used to play on the netball team and go swimming like everyday when i was in junior school. then secondary school came along and it was like *bye bye health* lol

I am about 5'5 to 5'7 somewhere and I weigh 150. I'm not fat or really chunky. In fact you can't see my fat at all but I have a lot of muscle that is hidden I look like I would weigh around 125 to 130 though. But I still need to lose that extra fat on my belly

Thanks ^^ I knowww that when you enter in college you start losing all of this excess fat. why? no money to eat, no time to eat, and you walk more than usual because you live in the campus, rather than a nice home in the suburbs or whatnot.

For example, my middle sister who is 5'7'' was fat. She tried everything, seroiusly. After a year at college, she got really skinny, not only because she was in college, but the fact that she took pilates very seriously.
She has a body close to a model's body!!!

But for the people who are highschoolers like us.. we have homework.. no where to walk around (like you have to) because we can drive and its more convienent... we are on the computer, like how we are now... our mothers wants us to eat.. because they cooked it, stuff like that.

Need a plan! Need a plan!!!!

Thanks ^^~ Since you have height and you dont' weight a lot, you can really burn 5-7 pounds easily by cutting off junk food and the way you eat. You are lucky you have height!!!!! don't take it for granted.

Nonono don't feel stupid, but as at age 12, you really have nothing to worry about. Because at your age you need all the nutrition you can get so you can grow !! So dwai, just dont stay on the comp like how i did!! lol

To answer your questions...

Yes I still go on the computer, but i don't play games. It's a daily thing now (during the schoolyear) because I need to do homework from the internet and etc. But during the past summer, i was barely on the computer because of my social life.

I'm 16, junior.
I have no time for sports, I did tennis last year as a sophmore and i couldn't concentrate on one thing.. tennis or math.. tennis or science. I love tennis, but that was a waste of my time because our group was so big.

This year.. i have to study like crazy!!!! I can't afford giving up my hours for a sport no more.. maybe next year.

Lately I've been doing winsor accelerated pilates workout! and I love it!!
fricken hard like hell, but you feel good afterwards. You feel more flexible and your posture is better.

I don't eat junk food (seriously). I can't even remember the last time i drank pop.
I eat very healthy... i even brring a korean lunch to school w/ me everyday (which is usually rice and egg or rice and spicy potatoes). I always eat fruits such as pears and red grapes. Always drink tea everyday cuz of my mom and water.

I don't think why excess fat exists on me is because of how my eating process is right now, I truly believe it is all stored fat from previous years. And that is what is even harder!


If you don't eat a breakfast, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND YOU START NOW!!!!

For breakfast, i have a korean breakfast~ like rice and kimchi jigae or something.
Breakfast is the most important meal of the day!

Seriously.. if i missed out on breakfast, the rest of the day, i'd be craving for stuff out of place.. eating at wrong times.. need breakfast!!

My weight doesn't change much. I stay the same either I eat a lot of eat less. My face have change a lil bit b/c as I grow older sometimes we lose our baby fat..but other than that I weight pretty much the same since H.S
