I know that majority of the the members here are from the States so...
AFL stands for Australian Football League but we call it afl, footy, australian rules. It's a physical contact sport and we have 16 teams in total. There are 22 rounds each year and 3 rounds of finals in which everyone plays for the 'one day in September' (the afl cup).

For those who don't live in Australia, have you heard about AFL? It's off season now and some of the teams travel to the states and play against the other teams
I believe one of the AFL player from Geelong went over to America to play NFL - Ben Graham ; New York Jets National Football League

the only reason why i don't like footy is cos it ruins saturday tv for me :x i mean, i like footy & everything, but do they HAVE to show it on saturday when it's the only day i really laze about to watch tv? >_>
