I think you are right, unless the Michigan - Ohio State game is really close, and the loser maintains the #2 ranking on the BCS. Then these teams will have a re-match on the National Championship game.

Ohio State is in the BCS championship; just have to wait to see who will be joining the Buckeyes. I think the team with the best shot at this moment is Michigan. Yes, they lost to Ohio State, but it was a close game. The other one-loss teams behind Michigan still have games to play. If USC beats Notre Dame and UCLA, I would think USC gets a shot at Ohio State. Florida and Arkansas also have a shot, but they still have games to play as well, including their matchup in the SEC championship.
Personally, I'd prefer an Ohio State-USC matchup.
Raw

That wasn't a close of a game as the score indicated. Either a 1 loss USC or a 1 loss SEC champ should and will get a shot before Michigan.

hey don't be so down about that..
USC.. which is my favorite team.. also my hometeam..
we lost to Oregon State.. which is.. kinda sickening.. considering how we destroyed Oregon U who was ranked at the time..
it's a sick and twisted world the BCS..
even when USC is 2nd in both the human polls.. BCS calculations say they're 3rd..
BCS makes the fans really just want more..
i dunno why.. i dunno how.. but as frustrating as the BCS can be.. it makes college football alot more fun and dramatic. ^^

Texas played Very well last year.. during the regular season. USC played a relatively mediocre ball game...
USC was favored because they had some stars on its team. Vince Young just led the team better in the game...
It was a Pretty even match-up last year actually..
This year is different.. USC hasn't played any better than last year and if anything they played worse this year..
the performance was bad, and they don't have play makers this year. USC is a totally different team this year.
Ohio State on the other hand.. Is and has been playing magnificently. There's no doubt in my mind that USC will have their toughest game against Ohio State. More likely than not USC will be trampled by Ohio State.

You have to remember that the polls play a factor into it all as well, and a lot of people are convinced that Michigan is more deserving than Florida. That is still being disputed.. Florida has played a crazy schedule, but Michigan's only lost is by 3 points to a #1 team on their turf.

Neither deserve their shot at the title? I completely disagree. I think both teams are deserving of a shot at the national title. They are both powerhouse teams who have played against other powerhouse teams (and won most of them). Florida has only one loss, and as Urban Meyer points out every single week, very few teams in the country can play the schedule Florida has played and go 11-1. Michigan beat every team on their schedule convincingly except for one team, a #1 team (and to note, they lost only by a measly 3 points on their home turf!).
As the College Gameday crew on ESPN pointed out, if you are deciding who should go based on whether a rematch is fair or not, then you absolutely shouldn't vote. The BCS title game isn't about who deserves it more;
it is about who is the two best teams in the country. Now THAT is highly debatable, and we can only find out what the coaches and computers think at 8 PM EST tonight.

^ I agree, both teams have reasons why they should get the spot to face off against Ohio State. Florida's schedule was rough, while Michigan just has an amazing team this year and just decimated teams. Michigan's schedule is not the strongest by far (I think have the teams they faced has losing records) but that sometimes doesn't mean anything in College Football as shown by the many upsets all over the country this year.
Whichever team goes I feel they deserved it.
As for USC, I'd say BCS next year. They'll have much of their starters returning, and with their impressive reputation and scouting they will get new player next year on an already strong team.
I'm wondering...if Bush stayed around for another year would he have made an impact?

there was no chance that bush would've stayed.. he had absolutely no reason to..
i'm happy that he left.. not that i didn't like him in USC.. but..
Being in USC for another year means.. potential injury leading to no NFL contract...
but Jarret will stay because of the loss against UCLA. Even if Bush played for another year in USC.. it wouldn't have had much of an impact.. I mean.. USC had a good season.. it's just the "expectations" were a little high for USC fans.. kuz they just watched USC trample through seasons with no one in their way. and now that USC lost just three games within a span of 11 months.. people don't see what they want to see.. which is a Trojan Ballclub with no losses on their record and a Championship in their hands.. ^^ technically USC is still undefeated at home^^ but anyway.. yeah.. the thing about bush.. he's gone.. he made history and now he is history.. so why think about what he could've been.. when he's doing a fairly decent job for a rookie in the NFL now?
Trungy
Dec 3 2006, 07:23 PM
I think you misunderstood his pondering. He wasn't wondering if Bush would have stayed, rather what would have happened if he did stay.
Jarret is gone (if he is a junior). A player won't stay just because of one loss to UCLA. Going by that theory, Bush would have stayed because he and USC lost to Texas.

So it is official.. Florida is going to face Ohio State and not Michigan. I would have loved to see another Michigan vs Ohio State game.

Being from Michigan I know I am completely biased, so I definitely disagree with Florida being in the championship.
Being from the South I do believe that the SEC is one of the tougher (if not the thoughest) titles to win, but....the SEC teams weren't the old SEC teams this season.
Florida only lost to one team, Auburn, but Auburn also lost to Georgia who also lost to Tennessee AND Vanderbuilt, and I know it's not fair to judge like this, but let's face it, the SEC was exciting this year because of how disappointing teams like Georgia, Alabama, and Auburn was. So although Florida won the SEC, it wasn't the old SEC everyone is used to watching.
I will admit that Michigan did not do very well against OSU, they let a lot of chances go, but despite their mistakes and missed chances there was only a 3 point difference, so in my biased opinion a rematch would definitely bring about some new excitement.
Michigan only had one loss, against OSU...let me say again...OSU!!! the number one team, so I'm kinda upset Florida still topped the Wolverines.
