EDIT 2/26/08

OMG I can change the tagline....YES.

My final testimony about the cleanse ---> Final Testimony

Okay, the main point: The Master Cleanser.

Oh, before I even start - READ THE WHOLE POST. There are inks to journals, instructions, rules, etc. READ THE WHOLE THING. Anyways.....this is now also notoriously known as, in Hollywood term - the Lemonade Diet. My mom had really bad joint problems and felt tired almost every single day, even though she works out in the morning. So she went to the doctor and he suggested this "diet" that would help her. ONE THING HERE: It is NOT starving yourself and it is NOT a fad diet. I need people to completely understand this is for health purposes ONLY. READ MT LIPS. Not a DIET. So people who are just looking to lose weight on their thighs, do not even bother. This is used for people who want to get rid of toxins that reside in your body, tucked away in the cells because of the environment, junk food, basically anything that went in your body that is not organic. It's notoriously known to lose weight, but that kind of mentality can make you not succeed on this. Trust me. Obviously this whole post is editted as the days go by to make it more "perfect." Oh...and if you're going to try and "give a different perspective" about the cleanse, don't even bother. Many people attempted...and let's just say the negativities weren't strong enough. I know it seems kind of mean, but you have no idea how many people repeat the same things over and over in this thread. You can voice your opinions. Just don't try to sabotage the thread.

My mom wanted a second opinion because she found this rather odd and you know how people are, hear anything about not eating solid food and people immediately think it's dangerous. But, the second doctor concurred. So she tried it for 10 days, which is the minimum requirement. What you basically do is drink this beverage of lemon juice, spring water, Grade B maple syrup (no, not the one you use on your pancakes), and cayenne pepper. She only drank this for 10 days. This helps loosen the toxins in your body, letting the body concentrate on healing itself. Then you drink sea salt water in the morning to "flush" out the toxins (and no, the body does not absorb the salt - some medical reason which I forgot).

First few days she was dizzy which the doctor said would naturally happen. Then she would be more energetic and actually looked a lot better in health. She said she could think clearer and felt very energetic. Skin got more glowy looking and she just looked...healthier. Better news is that she also lost 20 pounds, but only gained 10 back after going back to eating solid foods. The doctor said it was because the toxins left the body now, so you're lighter.

I looked up this "diet" thing online and it seems to have helped a lot of people, even celebrities such as Robin Quivers (who lost 70 pounds by doing three segments of 21 days - the article about her fainting and going to the hospital was proven false so don't be alarmed), Beyonce, etc. And people can go on this process for 40 days and it won't hurt them because the beverage has all the nutrients that sustains the body for that period of time. But just remember, it's for health, not to lose weight. You can lose two pounds a day on average - although a lot of it is water weight. There has never been an incident where someone was harmed; all experiences lead to great results health wise.

I'm thinking of going on it; not because to lose weight, but just the idea of having toxins in me make me feel...bleh. And I'm actually envious of my mother because she looks as good as new and so happy afterwards. It's rather intriguing. Oh, and this isn't the only cleanse that does this, there are other detoxifying cleanses out there, but this is the original and better way to cleanse the body.

So thought I give people a heads up about this; I am actually going to start this tomorrow and experience how this will effect me. I have been stuffing myself of MSG ramen goodness, so it might do me some good. And I do rather feel very tired nowadays.

Maybe I should start a little journal here? Anyways, just letting you guys know about this health method especially for people who want to lose weight. If you are interested, I rather advise you to do some research before you do or say anything.

This is not for skeptics. I'm not here to try to ram things in your head. So please, I do not wanrt to expect any crude or bitter comments. Keep it to yourself. To me, it just means your not insightful at all and stick to whatevers on the "top." Just to say, not every doctor will agree with this diet. Some professionals agree and some professionals don't. It's a no win war.

Another reason I do want to do this: I have a syndrome called PCOS. Technically, this syndrome makes you gain 60-80 pounds a year, without any change in habit of eating or exercising. I gained 80 in one year. This has to do the pituitary gland that got disrupted and resulting in different hormonal levels. Basically, the egg in the ovaries do not release, and stay in the ovary, making a cyst. That's why I needed surgery barely a year ago to remove the cyst and go on medication to relieve the syndrome. I'm all better now, but the surgery and all didn't change my weight. I didn't think I needed to lose weight, the doctor said that it should come off by itself but sometimes it won't. So it didn't. So I'm going on this cleanse to lose weight as a second reason.

You can learn more on this site: http://www.womentowomen.com/insulinresista...p;keywords=pcos

PCOS happens to anyone and no one knows the cause. It rarely happens in Asian women, but sadly, I'm one of the 10% of the women population to have PCOS. If anyone is gaining weight rapidly and there is no reason for the weight, go to the doctor.

Anyways, ciao~

EDIT

-------------------------------------------

There has been many information and experiences told throughout the thread. If you're serious about this, I suggest you read them.

This is a site Tammie found that was very useful and nice to share:

http://www.therawfoodsite.com/index.htm

------------------------------------------

THIS WAS IN THE NEW YORK TIMES 12/10/06. There were testimonials and research facts about the cleanse. Even though all this good information was given, there were again those psychologists that try to give reason for this cleanse by saying it's all in the person's head. Um...science verses theories. Yeaahhh....:

It's all together. But, I tasted it - wasn't too bad. The sea salt water was the worst though. Bleh. Because you're not taking in any fiber, you need something to help move along them bowel movements (sorry if it sounds gross, but it's a natural thing). If you can't take the sea salt water, then it is required to drink a laxative tea in the morning and evening.

Tami
A lot of people take a gentle herbal laxative tea at night during this process to ease the bathroom process. What comes out is supposed to be nasty though

so how much do you need of everything and glasses a day? lets say a cup of syrup 2 pints of cayenne pepper? lol for example. thanks! where would you get the sea salt water? sweatingbullets.gif
Sanura
My aunt's doctor recommended this to her when he found that she was sick due to constipation. Instead of prescribing pills, he told her to do the Master Cleanse for one week and come back for another checkup.

Two weeks later, my aunt was healthy and quite happy. She lost 7 pounds, was no longer constipated, and she saved money because she didn't have to buy pills. She said the first 3 days were tough, but by day 4, she felt better and had a ton of energy.

Now, whenever she's ill, whether it's constipation or a common cold, she does the Master Cleanse for a week and she always looks healthier after the detox than she did before she got sick.

There the official book that describes what this does, what it will do for you, how it effects your body, how to make it, and what to do when you come off of it. A thin yellow book of 50-pages you can buy for 6 dollars.

But since I have it, I'll just inform you. smile.gif

You should drink at least 6 glasses (about 10 fluid ounces) and a lot of water. One glass has 2 tablespoons of fresh lemon juice, 2 tablespoons of the maple syrup, 1/10 of a teaspoon of cayenne pepper, and medium hot water (or cold...didn't matter for my mom).

The lemons have to be FRESH. You can mostly buy the maple syrup in like an organic store such as the Whole Food's store.

As for the sea salt water...you buy uniodized sea salt and put in a level of 2 tablespoons of it in 32 oz. of lukewarm water. I'm warning you: it is nasty. And in the morning...let's just say you want to stay home 2 hours after you drink it cause...yeah, bathroom time. I think I'm just going to stick with the tea haha.

If you buy the book, pills are actually bad for you. Such as constipation. You'll usually have pains like these due to the stuff you put in your body that are like chemicals. That's why people get cancer. Ever hear the expression "Anything can cause cancer these days?" Meat is actually bad for you to, but don't want to get all into it haha. I learned a lot from the book. I suggest people who want to do it-

Interesting. First time I'm hearing about this master cleanser. Think I might try it this coming winter break. I'm always tired these days and should do something to cleanse out my body...besides, losing some pounds wouldn't hurt.

So you drink the salt water in the morning and the herbal laxative tea at night? Every night?

Yeah, basically. But, if you can't bear the sea salt water, you can replace it with the tea. So it's either sea salt water in the morning - first thing on an empty stomach - and tea at night before you sleep, or tea in the morning on an empty stomach and tea at night before you sleep. Every night.

Surprising enough, even when you're not eating for 10 or 30 days...."stuff" just keeps coming out which is suppose to be the toxins.

silvertaz
the laxative tea, any kind that you would suggest? I really have no idea about tea. Is green tea considered as laxative tea?

So the sea salt water flush can be replaced with laxative tea?
se7ensoul
I did this a few days back.. only for 3 days though.. cos I cant stand looking at food.LOL! But this is good for detox and losing weight. i lost 3 kg in 3 days. But in order to succeed though the minimum of 10 days, you gotta have really strong willpower. Good luck for whoever's trying

My mom used Smooth Move laxative tea. No, green tea isn't a laxative tea. Anything that contains senna leaves will do the job. But my mom said the Smooth Move tea was too mild. I'm using this tea called Slim Tea that has senna leaves. But, you can get any brand that basically says laxative tea on it.

It is said on average that once you get past the third day, it's smooth sailing from there...hope I succeed. I know my mom had a hard time cause she loves food.

Laxative tea
Spring water

Oh and another thing, you can exercise too while on this process.

how do you got 10 days without eating food? Don't you get hungry? I get hungry like every 3 hours. I know that a human can live like a month without eating food and just live off of liquid but seriously doesn't your stomach growl like crazy from hunger?

I mentioned before, this small thin yellow 50-paged book with a lemon tree on the front called "The Master Cleanser" by Stanley Burroughs. It's pretty old, about 50 years?

It's about 6-7 dollars.

Someone put the picture of the book up.

Like I said, on average, after the third day, people lose their appetite. My mom almost went crazy, but on the fourth day, she said she started to not care for food and focused on other things. Your appetite goes away. This is the common reaction. Your stomach begins to rest so that the body can focus on healing itself and collecting all the toxins. People go on for 40 days without food on this process.

BUT...the first three days are hell for some people who rely on food. Thus, this takes a lot of willpower.

Can you handle it?

Well, like I said, there are other detoxifying cleanses, but the Master Cleanser is the most recommended and cheapest.

The syrup costs about 7-11 dollars. Lemons are like what...39 cents each? The tea is like 3-5 dollars. The salt is like..2 dollars?
